First pot: seeds grew mold rather than germinating. Second pot didn't grow anything at all. Third pot started spindly plants, not sure if they are going to survive. This costs way too much just for three tiny pottery pots.

I planted three of the herbs that came with my Chia Herb Garden and one I purchased myself - lemon balm. The Chia herbs sprouted remarkably fast and look wonderful already. The kit was easy to use and I love watching my "garden" grow. I too use a grow bulb with them because I worried they weren't getting enough sun in my apartment. The bulb cost [$] and I use it in a desk lamp, I recommend it if you really want your plants to thrive.The lemon balm was planted just today, so no word on whether the Chia sponge works with non-Chia seeds, but I don't see why it won't.

I have never been able to grow herbs from seed until I used this product. Of course you need lights, and of course you need plastic bags, just like with any other plant project from seed. I love the sponges, they're very effective and clean; once the plants out grow the sponge growing medium you should move them to larger pots and use sterile potting medium with slow release fertilizers added. The herb plants need frequent clipping to keep them growing profusely, Very easy to grow, well worth the 20 bucks!
