I found the instructions were vague and not useful. There should be a more complete description of how the water is input, what to expect when you "eliminate the air bubble" and whether or not the chillow should be encased in a separate pillow case.

I also think it would be helpful for some hints as to where to store the chillow in between uses.

I bought this for my mother who was starting to get hot flashes years ago, and she used it for quite a while, but she never changed the water, so I suspect it didnt' work as well and probably started leaking. I bought it for myself for while I was living in FL with bad AC, and it worked really nicely, I actually found it to get too cold, I placed underneath the pillow and then could'nt wrap my arms around the pillow. Anyway I only used it for a month before moving up north. But it worked quite nicely for that short amount of time for me.

the plastic gets hard and cracks and leaks. the newer products get hard quicker.

Following the instructions, the pillow ended up up with a concentrated gel mount roughly the size of a computer wrist cushion in the center of the pillow rendering it useless.

With gel distribution/retention baffles, a properly designed chllow would have been a great idea and device. Sadly, there is no way to make the gel distribution in the pillow homogeneous.

One week of sleeping, tossing and turning crunching up the pillow and it's useless. It stay that way.

After putting it in my pillowcase for one night the inside is all twisted. Do not buy this product!!!

I bought 3 of these for friends going thru the change and two of them were too embarassed to tell me but all 3 friends agreed that I had wated my money. One of my friends called the makers to make sure she was using the chillow correctly and she was using it correctly, but it did not stay cool. The makers told her that the room must be cool in order for the chillow to work. They offered no recourse on their product and were unpleasant on the phone. Save your money and look at some of the other cooling products listed for the dogs, they work better I know because I have a cooling mat for my dog that uses water with a different tehnology.

This works great for anyone that has trouble sleeping because of hot flashes. The only draw back is that it doesn't last the whole night.

I use two Chillows as one will heat up by the middle of the night, so I can swap it out for the cool one when a hot flash hits.
The Chillow does slide around a little. However it's worth it. It keeps me cool during the really hot summer nights and helps when I have a hot flash.
It does need monthly maintenance - adding more water, burping the air out.
I was lucky and got a 'Buy one, get one free' deal. This was a replacement as my old Chillow (lasted three years) got too dried out.
