I bought the Chummie after reading the positive reviews online. Upon opening it my daughter really liked the cute looks of the alarm, the progress chart and the achievement certificate.
What my doctor could not achieve in months, Chummie achieved in just a couple of weeks. I believe that every bed wetter needs to have a Chummie. It works.
Fasten the alarm unit to the outside neckline or around arm with optional armband accessory (sold separately). Attach the sensor to the outside of the child's undergarment. Ensure that the sensor front (black face) touches the undergarment. Secure the sensor by taping the sensor back (white face). Optionally, slide the sensor between two pairs of undergarments with the sensor front facing the child. Run the sensor cord underneath the shirt.
How it works:
As urination begins, the mat detects the first drop of urine and sends a signal to the alarm, which then goes off to wake the child.
By waking the child the moment urination starts Chummie teaches the child's brain a connection between the bladder's full signal and waking.
Now awake, the child goes to the bathroom to finish urinating.
Over time, the child begins to wake sooner, until they finally begin to 'beat the alarm' - waking up on their own before they wet the bed!
