Indications
For relief of constipation (irregularity). This product helps restore and maintain regularity. Also useful in the treatment of constipation associated with other bowel disorders when recommended by a physician. Generally produces effect in 12-72 hours.
Warnings
Phenylketonurics: Contains Phenylalanine 52 mg per adult dose.
Each dose contains calcium 85mg, potassium 125mg, and sodium 3mg. Each dose contributes 24 calories from maltodextrin.
Ask a doctor before use if you have:
Abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting
A sudden change in bowel habits that persists for two weeks
When taking this product:
Do not exceed the recommended maximum daily dose
Do not use a laxative for a period longer than one week unless directed by a physician.
Stop use and ask a doctor if:
You have rectal bleeding
You have no bowel movement after use
These could be signs of a serious condition.
Taking this product without adequate fluid may cause it to swell and block your throat or esophagus and may cause choking. Do not take this product if you have difficulty in swallowing. If you experience chest pain, vomiting, or difficulty in swallowing or breathing after taking this product, seek immediate medical attention.
Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a poison control center right away.

I had chronic constipation and began using Citrucel but I did have to add Mira Lax to the dose of Citrucel. If you find it is not enough to relieve you just add MiraLax, suggested by doctor.

My doctor suggested I use this product everyday after my colonoscopy over 10 years ago. I use it everyday in the morning. It tastes like orange juice, and quenches my morning thirst. I mix it with a little water to smoothen it out and then stir in the rest of the water. Other products sold for the same use cause gas and don't taste as good. The best thing is that drugstore.com carries this large size, and it's a great value!

I mix this with Knox Nutra Joint each morning--which masks the bleh taste of the joint crystals. Citrucel disolves better.tastes better, and works more effectively to add fiber and promote regular bowel movements than other products.
I am so glad it comes in a sugar free variety because I am diabetic. I wish it were still available in individual packets for use when traveling.

Diverticulosis can cause severe and uncomfortable problems. For me using Citrucel twice daily has had a beneficial effect to prevent those problems from reccurring. The flavor is pleasant. I mix the powder with fruit juice and water. There are also Citrucel candies that are easy to carry with you. I would prefer not to have to think about diverticulosis, but since I do, I am glad to have this product available.
Fill enclosed scoop with product. Level scoop with knife or flat object.
Put product in water. Stir briskly and drink promptly. Drinking another glass of water is helpful.
Dose:
Adults and children 12 years of age and older: one scoop up to three times daily Children 6 to under 12 years of age: half the adult dose once daily Children under 6 years of age: Ask a doctor
Take this product (child or adult dose) with at least 8 oz. (a full glass) of water or other fluid. Taking this product without enough liquid may cause choking. (See warnings)
Use product at first signs constipation or irregularity. Using enclosed clear scoop, put one dose in a full glass of cold water. Stir briskly and drink promptly. Di=drinking another glass of water is helpful.
Store below 86° F (30° C). Protect contents from humidity. Keep tightly closed.
