In regards to it washing out after a few weeks: that is exactly what a Level 2 dye is supposed to do. If you're looking for color that does not fade or change, look for a Level 3 product. The demi-permanent nature of this product is precisely why I like it -- I like the brighter red when I first color, and I like the more subtle shades of red as it gradually washes out. If you're lazy (like me) and not wanting to commit to having to dye every couple of weeks to avoid really obvious roots, demi-permanent is the way to go. Your hair will stay a subtle shade of red (i.e., this does NOT wash out completely -- if you're looking for that, try a Level 1 product), but fades to a color that blends with your natural shade at the roots (assuming, of course, that you selected a shade of red that complements your natural color) so that roots do not become apparent for quite a while. VS Most Liked Negative Review Disappointed I am disappointed with the new formula. I have used Natural Instincts since 1997 and have always loved the results. I have used Natural Instincts since 1997 and have always loved the results. I have red hair and like using semi-or demi-permanent color since red fades, even in permanent formulas, so why risk the damage from the ammonia? Well the newest NI formula does not last as long, about half as long actually. Which is why the include a "color refresher" which is just awful, as I have just discovered. It doesn't take very evenly and stains your ears, scalp, neck, etc., even when you think you have rinsed thoroughly. Plus the color is not the same. Sure it gives a brighter appearance to your color, but it lacks the intensity of the color when you first applied it from the box. Also, I have long-ish hair. Because the new formula requires applying to dry hair instead of damp (like the old), you will need two bottles if your hair is medium to long. One bottle will not cover it. So plan to spend twice as much money for half the amount of time that your color will last. Forget the refresher. It is terrible. I would throw that out. Really, I am very good at doing my own hair and I know what I am talking about. I always get stopped by someone who tells me I have gorgeous hair. I would only recommend this product if the person I recommended it to needed color that did not damage the hair like permanent color does. Clairol, why did you change it???????? Comments about Clairol Natural Instincts Haircolor, Light Auburn 16, 1 ea: Does a great job of covering my gray hair. I like the fact that this will wash out and I don't have to wait for it to grow out before I change the color. I usually add this with Clairol #12 to create an auburn color. I then use highlighter to give a color variation to mimic a natural color blend.

Comments about Clairol Natural Instincts Haircolor, Light Auburn 16, 1 ea: Clairol discontinued this. I thought I found some left over but when I ordered it, the NEW version came not the box you see. The new one has the same number and says it's the same color but I don't want the color on the new box. The older version is much brighter red. The new one is basicly brown.

Comments about Clairol Natural Instincts Haircolor, Light Auburn 16, 1 ea: I was a little hesitant about this product after reading some negative reviews, I haven't colored my own hair in years, but I am thrilled with the results! I had a permanent red color done at a salon several months ago, the past few visits I have had a 'glaze', aka semi perm color. I really didn't fancy another $50 visit a couple of months later so decided to try this...I could not be more pleased! The color is gorgeous, a rich light auburn with tremendous shine. I think people need to be wary of the color suggestions on the box, my hair is light to mid brown as recommended and the results are perfect.

Comments about Clairol Natural Instincts Haircolor, Light Auburn 16, 1 ea: I love this color. Everyone has to find just the right shade...and Spice Tea is it for me. My hair color is a mixture of medium brown. Since it is not permanent it will fade and it makes the color look even more natural for me. I often get compliments, it's easy to use, not too harsh and the conditioner smells great and makes your hair feel great after you use it.
