This did not dry my hair out or change its texture. I have 4a natural hair and this worked really well for me. This color is only 1 level up from my natural hair color but I actually had to leave it in for 45 minutes to get the desired color although the directions say "30 minutes" for natural hair. This would be the one "con" -definitely do a Strand Test before using. But it was worth it to get the right color without damaging my hair which is still soft and moisturized. The dye does not smell, is ammonia free and contains some conditioning ingredients. I'm very happy with the end result.
