Chemical Name: DESLORATADINE (des-lor-AT-a-deen) and PSEUDOEPHEDRINE (soo-do-e-FED-rin)
Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg is an antihistamine and decongestant combination that is used to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergies such as watery or itchy eyes, runny nose, itchy throat, sneezing, and stuffy nose (nasal congestion).
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE CLARINEX-D 24 HOUR 5-240mg within 14 days of taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (such as furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine), or if you are also taking droxidopa. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking digoxin, beta blockers (such as propranolol or atenolol), methyldopa, mecamylamine, reserpine, bromocriptine, guanethidine, or any medicine to change the acid level in your urine (such as sodium bicarbonate or potassium citrate). DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including high blood pressure, diabetes, certain heart problems (ischemic heart disease), glaucoma or increased pressure in your eyes, thyroid problems, prostate problems, epilepsy or seizures, allergies, pregnancy, or breast feeding. ROUTINE USE OF THE MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a history of kidney or liver problems; narrow-angle glaucoma; severe high blood pressure; severe heart or blood vessel problems (coronary artery disease or ischemic heart disease); if you are unable to urinate (urinary retention); or if you have experienced weakness, tremor, irregular heartbeat, or severe or persistent dizziness or sleeplessness with Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg or a similar medicine. Use of Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg in children under age 12 is not recommended. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of giving Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg to your child. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg.
Follow the directions for using Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg provided by your doctor. SWALLOW WHOLE. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. STORE CLARINEX-D 24 HOUR 5-240mg at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) in a tightly closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. Brief storage between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is permitted. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF CLARINEX-D 24 HOUR 5-240mg and you are taking it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take 2 doses at once.
DO NOT TAKE CLARINEX-D 24 HOUR 5-240mg if you have had an allergic reaction to it, are allergic to any ingredient in this product, or are allergic to loratadine. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or take Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg may cause drowsiness or dizziness. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg. Using Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any medicines containing antihistamines or decongestants. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING CLARINEX-D 24 HOUR 5-240mg IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to the effects of Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg during pregnancy. CLARINEX-D 24 HOUR 5-240mg IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. Do not breast-feed while taking Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg include dry mouth, headache, trouble sleeping, tiredness, drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, nervousness, or loss of appetite. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience fast or irregular heartbeat. An allergic reaction to Clarinex-D 24 Hour 5-240mg is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of an overdose may include severe headache, nausea, or vomiting; chest pain; fast or irregular heartbeat; anxiety or agitation; hallucinations; seizures; trouble urinating; trouble breathing; or loss of consciousness.
If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your doctor. DO NOT SHARE CLARINEX-D 24 HOUR 5-240mg with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE CLARINEX-D 24 HOUR 5-240mg for other health conditions. KEEP CLARINEX-D 24 HOUR 5-240mg out of the reach of children. IF YOU WILL BE USING CLARINEX-D 24 HOUR 5-240mg FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, be sure to obtain necessary refills before your supply runs out.
