Chemical Name: LORATADINE (lor-A-ta-deen)
Claritin 10mg is an antihistamine used for relieving symptoms of seasonal allergies such as runny nose; sneezing; itchy, watery eyes; or itching of the nose and throat. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Claritin 10mg. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking amiodarone. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including kidney or liver problems; allergies; pregnancy; or breast-feeding. Claritin 10mg should not be used in CHILDREN younger than 6 years old without checking with the child's doctor; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using Claritin 10mg.
Follow the directions for taking Claritin 10mg provided by your doctor. TAKE CLARITIN 10mg with or without food. STORE CLARITIN 10mg at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C), in a tightly closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Some brands of Claritin 10mg are packaged in a blister unit. DO NOT USE a tablet or capsule if the blister unit is open or torn. IF YOU MISS A DOSE of Claritin 10mg, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take 2 doses at once.
DO NOT USE CLARITIN 10mg IF you are allergic to any ingredient in Claritin 10mg. TAKING CLARITIN 10mg IN HIGH DOSES MAY CAUSE DROWSINESS. Do NOT take more than the recommended dose without checking with your doctor. CLARITIN 10mg MAY INTERFERE WITH SKIN ALLERGY TESTS. If you are scheduled for a skin test, talk to your doctor. You may need to stop taking Claritin 10mg for a few days before the tests. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINES, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU BECOME PREGNANT, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Claritin 10mg while you are pregnant. CLARITIN 10mg IS FOUND in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you use Claritin 10mg, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
NO COMMON SIDE EFFECTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED with the proper use of Claritin 10mg. If you notice any unusual effects, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience severe or persistent dizziness. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to Claritin 10mg is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe drowsiness or headache, and fast or irregular heartbeat.
If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, contact your doctor. DO NOT SHARE CLARITIN 10mg with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE CLARITIN 10mg for other health conditions. KEEP CLARITIN 10mg out of the reach of children and pets. IF USING CLARITIN 10mg FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
