I wish this had been labeled and described as being for African American, or Black hair. It's probably a great product for that use. I had bought the other Clean and Clear therapy products, and mistakenly thought this was a deep conditioner. It took 5 washes, on two days, to get the product out of my hair. Oops! Waste of my money. Better labeling please!!!!!

Reading the description ("Intensive Scalp Nourishment Balm"), I was expecting something more like a conditioning mask and less like a thick pomade. If I had known that, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. This product is definitely not for all hair types. BUT, the fact that there are absolutely no directions on the package? That's a huge negative for anyone in my book. Products like this do need a little explanation. I have very long, naturally curly hair, and I've used "balm" type products in the past. I'm going to have to try this again, knowing now what it's really intended for. But I'm very skeptical to say the least.

True, there should be some directions on the container for this product, but this product was designed primarily for African-American hair. The "purple" line of Clear products, promoted by Heidi Klum is for caucasian-type hair. Those of a certain age in the African American community already know what to do with this product when they see it (just like the hair oil). This is a daily hair dressing (or "grease" as our grandmothers used to call it), as our hair tends to be on the dry side. Yes, it is a petroleum jelly base. It is not a deep conditioner in the sense that you apply it on wet hair after shampooing and then rinse out. This is a lightweight balm to add a little moisture and sheen, on a daily basis or as needed, as a styling product, or a little on at night before bed before your hair wrap. So all of your negative reviews are because you probably needed to stick with the purple line and not the gold, as this was not designed for your hair. The negative reviews are unfair to the wonderfulness of this product.

From the container it looks interesting so i buy it, i go to look for directions and all it says is Cleanse, Smooth, Soothe, Seal. i peel and still no directions i open the cap and nothing. so it looks like a deep conditioner so i put it on after i shampoo, rubbing it into my scalp. When i go to rise it is a big gooed mess. i try washing several times and nothing so i give up.I get to look like a grease ball today and in search of some directions somewhere. I have not had any luck yet. not even on the company website. Dont use this product until you are well aware how to use it

This is a wonderful product for coily, natural African American 3C/4A textured hair (for more information on curl type, visit naturallycurly.com). My hair is soft, my curls are more defined, and I have no frizz. My scalp feels wonderful. I use sparingly, while my hair is wet, after a leave-in conditioner and curl-defining lotion. I also use the Clear Shea conditioner; together, my hair feels and looks fabulous. Will add in the shampoo to the rountine as well.

In the store they have this product placed with conditioners that are for just regular hair. I picked it up and went to read the directions and
was kind of surprised that there were none. But the label looked just like any other deep conditioner.I noticed in the shower that there was something kind of strange about it. After I towel dried it,to my surprise it looked like I had taken and put Vaseline thru my hair.I have now washed my hair 10 times and also tried Dawn dish washing soap and it's still in my hair. And I don't know how to get it out.

This product might be fine for the Black community but it is NOT for all hair types. Took me 7 shampoos to remove from my hair. I called the 1-800 number on the jar to ask for directions she acted like she didn't know there wasn't any directions but others have mentioned this in their reviews (which I DID NOT read before buying) I asked if this product was targeting a specific group of consumers and she finally said it was made for African American individuals. Drug store. com should make them put this in their discription of product. I did buy the shampoo and conditioner and did like that.

There are no directions. I assumed this was a deep conditioner. Its pasty and didn't rinse from my hair easily, had to shampoo again. Went to the manufacturer's website and again no clue, except the models for this product are African-American. It was not easy finding the 'contact us' info but finally did and rep said it was a balm, not to be rinsed out of the hair. When I explained that I looked like a [*], rep said to shampoo again. I had to ask if the product was meant for all hair types and after pondering the question, rep said it was for African-American hair. Doh! No wonder it didn't work for me. Gave it 3 stars because it may be an ok product for the right type of hair.
