I am a rather impatient person and like to be in control of certain things in my life (yes, Type A personality). Anyhow, I was 34 when me and my husband started trying to conceive beginning in June 2009 during our 1st year wedding anniversary in the Caribbean. Anyhow, I thought I knew my body like clockwork and that I ovulated on the 14th day of my cycle. WRONG. We tried in June and July during the 5 days before and up to what I thought was when I was ovulating (even planned our anniversary trip around those days). When we did not get pregnant during those 2 months I started freaking out. He's 41 and I was 34 so I thought we were screwed. Then something told me to look into getting a fertility monitor so I purchased this one. I was so annoyed when I opened the box to see that I had to start between the 1st and 5th day of my cycle. By the time I purchased the darn thing I was already on day 7. Being the impatient person that I am (I could not wait until the next month to start using it --- sorry), I just pretended I was on day 5 of my cycle and started using the darn thing. I figured I'd know I was 2 days off and the monitor would catch up on the next go around if we did not succeed during the first time. During the first 16 days of my cycle (according to the monitor) I was at "low" fertility. I started freaking out since, like I stated previously, I thought day 14 was my peak. Then, I got 2 high fertility days on days 17 and 18, followed by 2 peak days on days 19 and 20, respectively. Hence, I ovulated on day 20, which blew my mind. That was also my 35 birthday, which was sort of funny. Me and my husband made sure to have intercourse on virtually all of the high and peak days (especially my birthday of course), although we did skip one day because we both were dead tired from a late night workout. Anyhow, my cycle was 28 days as usual and I did not get my period on the 28th day. So I took one of those First Response (early results) test the day after my period was due (DON'T buy this First Response test BTW, it sucks) and it gave me only one solid line a really faint second line - so faint I really did not notice until I tilted the stupid test but it was so faint I just threw it out and thought I was not pregnant and was really annoyed. I was really crampy so I was certain my period was just late and it was coming any day. But when my period still did not come almost 10 days later I took other tests and they confirmed I was pregnant!!! I am currently 6 weeks. Me and hubby are going our prenatal checkup in a couple of days to hopefully hear the heart beat and do genetic testing. Very very excited. This product worked like a charm. Worth EVERY penny! The first month we just kind of winged it (planning sex around time of ovulation. The second month I decided to try an OPK (Rite Aid), but I had a very hard time reading the lines to determine when my LH had surged. So, after getting my period that month, I decided to order the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor. We got pregnant our first month using the monitor!!! I would highly recommend it to anyone. I'm now 5 weeks pregnant, and very thankful I made the investment. Good luck to all trying to conceive!!! I am not pregnant yet, but went to the doctor to find out I have blockage and I have to have surgery, that's fine. I was still using my monitor, and it said that I was ovulating before I went for my ultrasound ,and the nurse was like "yes" you are ovulating, so with the exception of this problem, when my husband and I start back I should have no problem at all conceiving. I am soooo happy to be able to contribute to the promotion of this wonderful product. Hubby and I have been TTC for 2 1/2 years. After a MC, 10 Clomid Cycles, a zillion OPK kits, injectables and 6 IUI's, we were on our way to IVF. We decided to switch doctors and start a new. We didn't want to go the route of IVF with this doc, we felt not all stones were left unturned. So with our new doc, we had a lap and ovarian drilling which regulated my cycles (I have PCOS). We then started trying. Our first month trying we used OPK'S and got a BFN :-(. The second month trying we were told to try the CLEAR BLUE FERTILITY Monitor. It took ONE time, just once!!!!! I still am in shock! WE got our BFP at 10 DPO!!!!! I would recomend it without hesitation!!!!! It helped make our BIGGEST dream come true!!!! I would highly recommend this product. I tried using regular ovulation sticks, but with this I knew exactly when I was ovulating. Comments about Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor, 1 ea: I purchased this item since after coming off the pill because my cycles were so irregular that I never knew when I ovulated, and the regular ovulation test sticks didn't work. The monitor showed me that I don't ovulate until day 25! I only used it for one cycle and just confirmed with my doctor today that I am pregnant. It is definitely worth the money. I would definitely recommend it for those who have busy schedules and/or who aren't very knowledgeable about their cycles. I was also able to expense it under our healthcare flexible spending plan.(Note that I tried temperature taking last year but found it hard to discern the patterns you're supposed to see.) I used the monitor after I had a miscarriage. Following my miscarriage, it seemed that the length of my cycle has shortened slightly. However, I wasn't sure if that was due to recovery or not. My MD said it was ok to try again after one cycle; I would normally have self-predicted my more fertile days to be about 2-3 days later in the month, based on pre-miscarriage cycles -- but following the indications from the monitor, I appeared to ovulate sooner than normal, and I'm now pregnant again! My husband also travels a lot, so it was very, very helpful to have a firm indication of when we were likely to conceive.
