I am a rather impatient person and like to be in control of certain things in my life (yes, Type A personality). Anyhow, I was 34 when me and my husband started trying to conceive beginning in June 2009 during our 1st year wedding anniversary in the Caribbean. Anyhow, I thought I knew my body like clockwork and that I ovulated on the 14th day of my cycle. WRONG. We tried in June and July during the 5 days before and up to what I thought was when I was ovulating (even planned our anniversary trip around those days). When we did not get pregnant during those 2 months I started freaking out. He's 41 and I was 34 so I thought we were screwed. Then something told me to look into getting a fertility monitor so I purchased this one. I was so annoyed when I opened the box to see that I had to start between the 1st and 5th day of my cycle. By the time I purchased the darn thing I was already on day 7. Being the impatient person that I am (I could not wait until the next month to start using it --- sorry), I just pretended I was on day 5 of my cycle and started using the darn thing. I figured I'd know I was 2 days off and the monitor would catch up on the next go around if we did not succeed during the first time. During the first 16 days of my cycle (according to the monitor) I was at "low" fertility. I started freaking out since, like I stated previously, I thought day 14 was my peak. Then, I got 2 high fertility days on days 17 and 18, followed by 2 peak days on days 19 and 20, respectively. Hence, I ovulated on day 20, which blew my mind. That was also my 35 birthday, which was sort of funny. Me and my husband made sure to have intercourse on virtually all of the high and peak days (especially my birthday of course), although we did skip one day because we both were dead tired from a late night workout. Anyhow, my cycle was 28 days as usual and I did not get my period on the 28th day. So I took one of those First Response (early results) test the day after my period was due (DON'T buy this First Response test BTW, it sucks) and it gave me only one solid line a really faint second line - so faint I really did not notice until I tilted the stupid test but it was so faint I just threw it out and thought I was not pregnant and was really annoyed. I was really crampy so I was certain my period was just late and it was coming any day. But when my period still did not come almost 10 days later I took other tests and they confirmed I was pregnant!!! I am currently 6 weeks. Me and hubby are going our prenatal checkup in a couple of days to hopefully hear the heart beat and do genetic testing. Very very excited. This product worked like a charm. Worth EVERY penny! It's great -- takes all the guessing out of the game, and if you just don't have the stamina to "try" every night for weeks, you can pinpoint it down to 4 or 5 days a month that you need to. According to my Doctor I am totally healthy and it's just a matter of time. Each month I get high fertility days followed by 2 peak days. So according to the monitor I am ovulating normally. However -- I am still not pregnant. I'm getting very frustrated. That being said, I find the monitor helpful in knowing where exactly I am in my cycle and I feel that doing so is increasing my chances each month. Just don't be blindsided by all the reviewers who were lucky enough to get pregnant within 1 or 2 months of using the monitor. It may not be so quick for you, but that may not mean anything is wrong either. Good luck!! Last summer (2004) I conceived again after four months only to miscarry. It was devastating. My husband and I have been struggling with infertility since then (a year). We even had an initial infertility consult. We bought this monitor in desperation, since many of the positive reviews seemed to reflect our situation. And lo and behold, we are now pregnant!!! This was our first month using the monitor. It's very easy to use. The directions are clear. I used the "dip" method to test my urine, because it was more precise and I could have a clock in front of me to time exactly 15 seconds. My husband and I made a baby-making "attempt" each "high" day and both "peak" days. It worked for us, and we were seriously considering IVF because nothing else worked. I'm so glad we got this monitor!!! Now my daughter is very excited to be a big sister finally. Comments about Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor, 1 ea: I bought this monitor and my goal was to determine the day that I ovulate, and I used it for the first month it gave me five high fertility days and two days peak, then one day high, then low again -- exactly as it says in the manual, which made me think that the results are pre determined some how, and what is surprising is I was ovulating (ovulation pain) on the day that gave me the low fertility reading!!!! After the two peak days and one high, but I still got pregnant the first month that I used it. I was just a little bit off on the ovulation day. Comments about Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor, 1 ea: I have had this machine a few years. This machine is one of the greatest achievements on the market. If this product is done the right way, there should be no problem with this machine. I have gotten pregnant 3 times and each time it was only that month trying. I always get the high fertility bar, then usually 14-15 day the 3rd bar with the little egg. What I did was let the machine know my menstrual cycle for 2 months before trying. Yes, it might be a little costly, but who could put a price on a precious child. Some people have some other problems but the majority of the women that have a normal 28-day cycle should not have a problem if this test is preformed correctly. 5 stars in my book! It took awhile as I was totally OFF on when I actually ovulated but it did work and was 100% accurate and we now have a wonderful 2 year old daughter to prove it! Thanks!!! Comments about Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor, 1 ea: My husband and I had been "off the pill" for 7 months but weren't really, really trying as my periods were irregular and we never knew when I would be ovulating. Many people it seems use the monitor to predict when to have intercourse, well; we used the monitor to know when to NOT have intercourse as our Dr. said we were having intercourse too often. After one month of using the monitor, we are expecting our first baby and are 7 weeks along. :) We had intercourse on the 2nd High day and 2nd peak day and it worked!!
