This was the best thing I every purchased in my life. I am a rather impatient person and like to be in control of certain things in my life (yes, Type A personality). Anyhow, I was 34 when me and my husband started trying to conceive beginning in June 2009 during our 1st year wedding anniversary in the Caribbean. Anyhow, I thought I knew my body like clockwork and that I ovulated on the 14th day of my cycle. WRONG. We tried in June and July during the 5 days before and up to what I thought was when I was ovulating (even planned our anniversary trip around those days). When we did not get pregnant during those 2 months I started freaking out. He's 41 and I was 34 so I thought we were screwed. Then something told me to look into getting a fertility monitor so I purchased this one. I was so annoyed when I opened the box to see that I had to start between the 1st and 5th day of my cycle. By the time I purchased the darn thing I was already on day 7. Being the impatient person that I am (I could not wait until the next month to start using it --- sorry), I just pretended I was on day 5 of my cycle and started using the darn thing. I figured I'd know I was 2 days off and the monitor would catch up on the next go around if we did not succeed during the first time. During the first 16 days of my cycle (according to the monitor) I was at "low" fertility. I started freaking out since, like I stated previously, I thought day 14 was my peak. Then, I got 2 high fertility days on days 17 and 18, followed by 2 peak days on days 19 and 20, respectively. Hence, I ovulated on day 20, which blew my mind. That was also my 35 birthday, which was sort of funny. Me and my husband made sure to have intercourse on virtually all of the high and peak days (especially my birthday of course), although we did skip one day because we both were dead tired from a late night workout. Anyhow, my cycle was 28 days as usual and I did not get my period on the 28th day. So I took one of those First Response (early results) test the day after my period was due (DON'T buy this First Response test BTW, it sucks) and it gave me only one solid line a really faint second line - so faint I really did not notice until I tilted the stupid test but it was so faint I just threw it out and thought I was not pregnant and was really annoyed. I was really crampy so I was certain my period was just late and it was coming any day. But when my period still did not come almost 10 days later I took other tests and they confirmed I was pregnant!!! I am currently 6 weeks. Me and hubby are going our prenatal checkup in a couple of days to hopefully hear the heart beat and do genetic testing. Very very excited. This product worked like a charm. Worth EVERY penny! P.S. -- I'm still very crampy and very very bloated but it's worth it.

LH (luteinizing hormone) is the hormone that surges anywhere from 0-52 hours before you ovulate, but typically around 24 hours. LH tends to surge in the morning, but not be in large enough quantities in your urine to show up until the afternoon or evening. By the time you have a positive OPK (ovulation predictor kit); you may have already had a surge for quite a few hours. And if you only test once in the morning, you may have had your surge for an entire day already.

Your first morning urine is the most concentrated, but this isn't the urine where the LH is usually going to show up first if you tested throughout the day. Then, if you're like most women, you're busy drinking your water for the rest of the day and your urine can become quite diluted. But you must drink up because your cervical mucus needs you to be well hydrated.

Many women only have a positive OPK for a couple of hours. Other women (PCOS) have multiple days of positive OPK's. If you look at the charts at a BBT charting website, such as Fertility Friend, you will see that most of the time, if a woman is using both OPK's and the CBEFM (Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor), they've already had a positive OPK an entire day before CBEFM gives them a "PEAK" reading. See picture below. It's not a great picture, but I've attached it anyway.

You really need to have your mate's umm….contribution where it needs to be almost before you get your positive OPK, but at the very least, it needs to be there immediately after you get your positive OPK, and added to for the following couple of days as backup.

If you BD (baby dance) on every "HIGH" and "PEAK" day the CBEFM gives you, you may be alright. If you're only BDing on "PEAK" days, you may be too late.

I've used the CBEFM for a couple of years and it has regularly NOT given me a "PEAK" reading, even though ovulation was confirmed via ultrasound and I got positive OPK's.

Because I have a cache of test sticks, I've been experimenting with it lately. Next cycle I am going to set the monitor so that the six-hour window of testing time will be between 9am-3pm or so. I am home during the day so this isn't a problem for me, otherwise I couldn't do it. I can't imagine bringing this device with me to work, although we've done some funny things already trying to get pregnant!

Definitely use another ovulation test as a backup with this.

Comments about Clearblue Fertility Monitor, 1 ea:

I ordered the monitor from drugstore.com and it arrived 4 days into my cycle the second month we tried to conceive. The directions say that you can advance the days in the monitor to the number of days into your cycle, up to the 5th day. So I did, and I started using the test sticks starting on day 6. I continued to see "low" readings until day 16, when I received a "high" reading. Then, the following two days I had "peak" readings. The monitor was used in combination with BBT readings. I think that the monitor is an easy way to get pregnant fast because the days went by and my period still had not shown up. I was shocked at how well it worked. The only thing is that the readings do take a little while to process, so I would find another personal hygiene routine step to do while waiting. I'm 6.5 weeks pregnant now, and very happy we're going to start our family.

My husband and I decided to try to get pregnant and after being on the pill for over a decade I wanted a little help. I purchased the monitor after reading the reviews. My first month off of the pill I didn't ovulate (which was good to know). I ovulated the next month, learned when my high and peak fertility was; took advantage of those days to spend "quality time" with my hubby and viola I'm pregnant! The monitor is incredibly expensive, but worth it, and was instrumental in getting pregnant the first month we tried.

I used this monitor and the ovulation predictor kit at the same time. The OPK detected the hormones and the monitor did not. It never showed peak fertility. I am so disappointed in this product and thankful that I did not rely on this alone. Wish I had saved the money and not purchased this!

Comments about Clearblue Fertility Monitor, 1 ea:

I stopped using birth control pills in May of this year and my husband and I started trying to conceive. I have long cycles so I wasn't sure when I ovulated. After 3 months of trying I wanted to speed things up, so I bought this monitor and the Clearblue Easy Digital Ovulation Predictors. I used both of them in September and this monitor gave me a high fertility reading for 2 days and I had a negative on the OPK for those two days. Then on the third day I got a peak fertility on this monitor and a positive OPK! After that I had another peak day and then another high day. My husband and I used all 5 days and then two weeks later (today) I got a positive home pregnancy test! This thing totally worked.
It's really easy to use. It tells you each morning if you need to test or not. You have to tell it that your cycle started within 4 days of the first day of your cycle. You have a 6 hour testing window each day. It only takes a few minutes to get the results. The results are easy to read. Also, the instruction manual says that you shouldn't use it if someone else has used it before, but I bought mine used online and it worked like a charm! This monitor DEFINITELY helped me to pinpoint my fertile days and get pregnant!!

Comments about Clearblue Fertility Monitor, 1 ea:

I have longer cycles and they can sometimes be irregular, between 28 to 35 days. In addition, I work out of town for a few days a week and my husband and I are apart. I got the monitor on the third cycle that we were trying to conceive and it was great to narrow down the window of fertile time and allowed us to not make extra trips to see each other given three nights a week I am about 1.5 hours away. I got three days of high fertility before I got the peak. I was using the ovulation tests which only tested the peak. The only cons are it takes several minutes to read the results which feels a little stressful, it also asked me to test for 20 days when I only had to use the ovulation kits for about 7 days.

I want to start by saying that I am 36 years old because when I read reviews before purchasing, I was specifically seeking out reviews for women over 35 trying to conceive for the first time. After TTC for a year by attempting to count cycle days and using OPKs, I finally bought this monitor after reading other reviews. Well...it worked the first month and I got pregnant! It gave me a good five day window of high and peak fertility days. I had irregular cycles and I am about 85 pounds overweight, so I assumed I would have trouble and never expected to get pregnant so quickly after purchasing the monitor and am so grateful that I bought it. I just regret not buying it sooner! I need to add that I had my doctor confirm that I had clear fallopian tubes and I do ovulate, so if you know that either of those are an issue for you, I would be more reluctant to spend the money without being treated first. This monitor has made my dreams of having a family come true and I will use it when I try to conceive baby #2!

                Clearblue Fertility Monitor

                 – When you are ready to start your family, you want to improve your chances of conceiving quickly as much as possible. Using a Clearblue Fertility Monitor could help to reduce the time it takes to get pregnant. This simple device monitors your hormone levels to let you know exactly when you are at your most fertile.

                Understanding Your Fertility

A woman's fertility generally peaks just before and during ovulation. By attempting to conceive during this period, you may be able to maximize your chance of successfully becoming pregnant. The problem is that many women have trouble determining when they are ovulating. The length of the menstrual cycle varies naturally between women, so your ovulation window will not necessarily fall exactly two weeks after your last period.

                Identifying Your Fertile Window

Clearblue makes it easy to get a better idea of when you are ovulating. It works by detecting a surge in luteinizing hormone, which triggers ovulation. It also tracks estrogen levels, which rise during the early part of the menstrual cycle in preparation for ovulation. By precisely monitoring the levels of these two hormones, the Clearblue Fertility Monitor can help identify not only the day of ovulation, but also a window of up to six days that occurs just before you are due to ovulate.

                Easy to Understand

The Clearblue Fertility Monitor is easy to use. There are no needles or blood tests required; you simply need to test your urine when the monitor prompts you to do so. It will then display a reading of either Low Fertility, High Fertility, or Peak Fertility. You may have the greatest chance of conceiving on the two Peak Fertility days that occur per cycle. However, there is also a strong chance of conception during the High Fertility period, which can last for up to five days.

                Suitable For Most Women

You can use the Clearblue Fertility Monitor if you have either regular or irregular periods. If you have been diagnosed with a medical problem that affects your hormones or fertility, then consult a physician before use. Additionally, if you do not conceive during six cycles of using the monitor, then consult your physician for further advice.
