Clif Bar is named after my father, Clifford, my childhood hero and companion throughout the Sierra Nevada mountains. In 1990, I lived in a garage with my dog, my skis, climbing gear, bicycle and two trumpets. The inspiration to create an energy bar occurred during a day-long, 175-mile ride with my buddy, Jay. We'd been gnawing on some "other" energy bars. Suddenly, despite my hunger, I couldn't take another bite. That's the moment I now call "the epiphany." Two years later, after countless hours in Mom's kitchen, Clif Bar has become a reality. And the mission to create a better-tasting energy bar was accomplished.

This flavor is my husband's new favorite! He eats them more than I do, but I also eat one every now & then, & I agree that they are very tasty! We like the consistency & flavor of the coconut, & the chocolate is good without being overpowering. Even though Clif bars are a bit high in calories, we like the fact that they are filling & nutritious...we also like how fresh & soft they are. I agree with others who suggest that you drink lots of water with these, since they are so dense. I was really surprised by the negative review!

I use it before I exercise, traveling and when I just want a light snack instead of a meal. They are great tasting, easy to carry and they do fill the hunger pains.

Great, satisfying meal replacement or great energy boost needed while hiking. It's sweet, to be sure, but doesn't have that artificially sweet taste some bars have. Delish!
