A few years back, I had switched to the classic double-edged (DE) safety razor for shaving, making my own shave soaps, and I was looking for something that wasn't too harsh...

The original version of this scent was the starter, then I switched to vanilla. Now, I have a regular "rotation" depending what mood I'm in when I finish shaving.

I love the classic scent that reminds me of the barber shop I frequented while in the Marines. I'm 35, but I love how these scents work across the generations; your grandpa would remember using this stuff and now it's used by 20-somethings!

Definitely worth a shot if you've never tried it. Quick burn, followed by an all-day scent that is always pleasant.

This is a fantastic scent from Clubman. Like other reviewers have noted, it is not really very "vanilla-y". It's a rich, complex, spicy, musky, manly, intriguing and expensive smelling scent. I like it. Reminds me of a cologne my dad wears. It's classic without being dated or "old timey" and is a scent young guys might like. Also combines well with other Clubman aftershaves for even more interesting and complex aromas.

Of all the Clubman aftershaves this is my number 2 favorite. When I first tried this I was suprised at the scent. It wasn't quite what i expected. I was thinking of a strong vanilla odor but I was wrong. It's it's own unique scent. Vanilla yes but far from strong. It takes on it's own identity and it;s very pleasant. It seems to last for quite awhile and I have got several compliments.

Love Clubman, but I don't love this.

First, don't be afraid that this will smell like vanilla; it doesn't and I purchased it hoping it wouldn't.

That being said, I still found it a bit cloying for my taste. To me, it smells like Bowling Green. If you like Bowling Green, then this is for you. If you do not like Bowling Green or you are not sure, then purchase at your own risk.

I'm a big fan of the classic barbershop scent which is why I am a big fan of the original Clubman aftershave. This scent does not say "barbershop" to me.

I've tried every scent that Clubman offers (except for their Musk) and every scent has sent me back to the original...

I use the aftershave about once a week or so in rotations. I really like the lite clean scent and the bite is nice. I'm not sure that there is anything that I don't like about it.

Clubman's Classic Vanilla has a classic, manly scent that garners lots of compliments from the ladies. The scent is hard to describe but it has a clean, sweet yet astringent bouquet, and has something going on underneath that hints at fragrances far more expensive. It works as both an aftershave and a cologne, and lasts about 3-4 hours. A true value from Clubman.

I use it as an all over lotion. Love the smell. It has a scent that reminds me of another cologne/after shave, but I can't place exactly what it is. My wife likes it.
It doesn't hold long enough, though

Insect Repellent as after shave lotion. I do not get any reference to the Vanilla in its name. Great price for Insect repellent though.
