Where does sensitive tooth pain come from? Receding gums and damage to your enamel can expose thousands of microscopic channels which lead to your tooth's nerve center. When your teeth make contact with something hot, cold or sweet, sensations are carried down these channels directly to the nerves, causing pain.
How does Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™ toothpaste work?
Contains Potassium Nitrate, clinically proven to soothe the nerves in exposed dentin.
Provides fast relief within two weeks
Builds increasing protection against sudden shocks of painful sensitivity and provides long term relief with regular use.
*Faster vs. a leading sensitivity toothpaste. Based on clinical studies at 2, 4 and 8 weeks.

Warnings
When using this product, if pain/sensitivity still persists after 4 weeks of use, please visit your dentist. Stop use and ask a dentist if the problem persists or worsens. Sensitive teeth may indicate a serious problem that may need prompt care by a dentist.
I have been using this product for over a year (I used to get it overseas while I was waiting for it to become available in the U.S.). It was originally recommended to me by my dental hygienist, and it uses a different substance than any of the other "sensitivity" toothpastes on the market. If you've ever tried those paint-on tooth sensitivity kits from Oral-B and others, those use the same thing that this toothpaste does. With every other sensitive-teeth toothpaste on the market (I've tried them all), I still had residual sensitivity in my teeth- no matter what. With this toothpaste, the only time I even remember that I have sensitive teeth is when I'm at the dentist and have to swish with the ICE-COLD water that they use (why would a dental office not have lukewarm water available in their treatment areas????). Seriously, try this toothpaste; you'll be amazed.
Adults and children 12 years of age and older: Apply at least 1 inch strip of the product onto a soft bristle toothbrush. Brush teeth thoroughly for at least 1 minute twice a day (morning and evening) or as recommended by a dentist or physician. Make sure to brush all sensitive areas of your teeth.
