I have naturally medium brown, fine, thin hair with highlights. I tried to dye it a VERY dark red... my ends turned almost black, while my roots were dark red... ugh!

I used Color Oops twice... it removed all the dye and left my hair a light/medium coppery brown. It dried my hair a bit... but less than I expected. I used Nutragena's Triple Moisture Recovery Mask to remoisturize my hair.

But... You have to remember that this product does NOT add color... it only takes away the dye.

So... if you have dyed your hair a shade that is lighter than your natural color... and want to use Color Oops to remove the dye... you may find that your natural hair has been lightened and it will be coppery or brassy, after the dye has been removed. If so... you may need to re-dye your hair, to achieve a normal color. You should use a gentle ammonia-free dye like Loreal Excellence Creme... stay away from Ash shades, stick to neutral or warm colors... and don't leave the dye on your ends, for more than 5 minutes.

However... if you have dyed your hair a shade that is darker than your natural color... you may find that your natural hair hasn't lightened very much and you may not need to re-dye it.

Finally... if you have a history of dyeing your hair and there are several layers of color on your follicles... you may need to use this product 2-3 times to strip all the color.

AND HAVE A DEEP MOISTURIZER READY FOR USE RIGHT AWAY!!! Hope this info is helpful.

I bought this to switch from purple to pink Splat.I read all the directions & precautions carefully - no where did it say that it was not for removing out of the ordinary hair colors, only that it would not work if you wanted to go from light to dark. So I used it. While waiting to get this stinky stuff out of my hair - which it said required at least 20 min.s of rinsing - What the ?? - I was reading further down in the "Additional tips" section, where in the very last sentence it said it would not work on pinks, blues, purples ect. Great -[$] down the drain. Literally. Should we be informed of this BEFORE purchasing?? Shouldn't that be in the description on the box and on the web site?? Ah, YES!! [*].

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover, Extra Conditioning, 1 Application:

I just had a new colorist at my salon color my strawberry blond hair to a dark chocolate brown (she completely screwed up the color!). I have extremely pale skin and it looked horrible. A few days later she "corrected" the color and now it looked even worse! I used this product and it took all of the horrible brown out and left me with my original color. It does smell awful and the 25 minutes of rinsing is rough, but my hair looks great now. II was pleasantly surprised at how healthy my hair looked and felt after it was all over. For those that it didn't seem to help, I cannot stress how important it is to rinse for the total time recommended. A friend who used this did not follow the rinsing times and did not get the same results as I did!

The product, while smelling weird is bearable but to spare those around you, try relaxing outside for a bit =P I had a ridiculous amount of colors in my hair, black, brown, red, purple. When I used it the black and most of the brown came out and turned my hair a very odd blonde color, but hey! It came out. The reds and purples not so much but the product does warn you of this. I recommend this product to get you started but you will have to do touch ups[[way less work than bleaching it]]. It's nice to not fry your hair right off the bat.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover, Extra Conditioning, 1 Application:

I had dyed my reddish hair black with Natural Instincts, and hated how it looked. I purchased this and followed the instructions. Perhaps it was the brand I used to dye it in the first place, but after over 30 minutes in the shower I came out and did not see a difference. The next morning I was able to see that the black had faded very slightly to a very dark brown-red. It looks better than it did, but nowhere near what was expected. The smell is bad but bearable.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover, Extra Conditioning, 1 Application:

I'm about to go abroad for an academic year, and I don't want to keep up with re-coloring my hair red every couple of months (too much time, money, and risk for misinterpretation). I've been dying it red for at least two years now, maybe two and half, so I already had low expectations for Color Oops. It probably didn't help that I did one application instead of the recommended two for old color, but I wasn't going to repeat the experience.

The instructions are long and involved, and I'm pretty sure I may have goofed along the way. It doesn't smell great, but it's not as bad as some people have described (and I'm pretty sensitive to smells usually). I saw no difference to the color, and it dried my hair out SO much, even though it's "extra conditioning." My hair felt brittle and gross as I rinsed and washed it--I wanted to apologize to my poor hair for the abuse. With a hair mask and a leave-in condition, my hair was a bit happier, but still part red, part natural.

Long story short: didn't work, dried out my hair, ended up going to a salon for proven products and professional application. No more red, thanks to the pros!

PS: I used this at my friend's recommendation. She had gone into a salon, asking to go from a soft redblonde to a blonde, but they made her darker. She used Color Oops the same day, and it made her hair very bright orange and brassy, but it eventually faded to a nice soft in-between of ginger and strawberry blonde. So it works for recent color.

I don't know if this would have removed my haircolor as it smelled so bad I had to rinse it out as soon as I applied the first bits. Even if the smell hadn't been so bad (think sugared rotten eggs) having to rinse product from your hair for FIFTEEN to TWENTY minutes seemed unreasonable to me.

My medium-light semipermanent brown color was looking flat, even with occasional highlights so I wanted to "start over". It lifted the color and following the directions about conditioning, my hair felt great! Almost left it that way but old highlights looked a bit too light for me. Colored a few days later and loved the results. I will definitely use again!

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover, Extra Conditioning, 1 Application:

I used this because my semi permanent color was beginning to look flat at the ends and I didn't want to highlight any more since it always seems to cause breakage to my hair. I left it on the full 20 minutes and went from a medium brown back to light brown with hightlights. I now have a considerable bit of gray but it held just enough color to look like highlights. Used a conditioner as recommended after the process and the feel of my hair afterwards was AMAZING! I decided to wait to color a few days to see if I wanted to live as "almost blond" ...it's not really me. So I chose a lighter shade of brown (semipermanent) and it is terrific. Can't say enough about the results. I will definitely use this again!

I went to the Salon and the lady turned my hair a very ugly UGLY reddish color, she tried fixing it and she ended up making it worse!
So, i went to a diff. Salon and she couldn't fix it! I desprately went to an over the counter color and it turned my hair GREEN!
I was so upset and sad about the situation, so i thought...since im not going out the house i should look up what i could do now...

I found Color oops and I am soo Amazed buy the results! if i would have done this in the first place, i would not have to spend $150 just to fix what that lady did to my hair!
I actually love my natural now, and plan on staying this color :)
SO happy with results! Thanks Color oops!

Color Oops Hair Color Remover, Extra Conditioning

                 – Experimenting with coloring your hair can be a lot of fun, but what happens when you want to go back to your original hair color? Thankfully, you do not have to wait for the dye to grow out. Color Oops hair color remover can effectively remove unwanted hair color, taking your hair back to its lightest shade.

How Color Oops Hair Color Remover Works

Color Oops hair color remover works by shrinking the molecules of permanent or semi-permanent dye in your hair, allowing you to wash them out and return your hair to its pre-coloring shade. It does not contain any bleach or ammonia, and therefore will not remove your hair's natural pigmentation. Color Oops restores your hair to its lightest shade, so if it was chemically lightened prior to coloring, then you will subsequently need to dye your hair using a product similar to your natural color to get back to your natural roots.

Color Oops Cares For Your Hair

Color Oops hair color remover deeply conditions your hair while stripping it of unwanted color. Aloe vera extract rehydrates your hair, while soy protein strengthens each strand. Hair is left soft, silky, and ready for recoloring on the same day. The color removal process takes only around 20 minutes, but during this time the deep conditioning formula works intensely on hair to protect and revitalize it.
