Apply this gel along ant trails and they'll immediately start to gather and feed. In 3-4 days the ants will be gone. All other forms of bait that I've used have been much less effective.
The product definitely kills a lot of ants. The jury is still out whether it kills the queen and the entire colony as claimed. I'm not sure any product like this will remove an ant colony from your home entirely...but I'm still trying.
Combat is very effective at killing ants in trees - especially Carpenter Ants. I just put a small amount of the gel on the tree where the ants crawl or enter a hole in the tree. The ants then take the gel back to their nest and wipe out the entire colony.
I also use it for ants that get in the house. If you can find their trail inside or outside, just put a little gel on the trail for them to take back to their nest.
Combat is a product thats quick and easy to use. One application generally works for the entire season.
I have a few scatttered small ants on the kitchen counters each morning. They are running to and from all different directioins, so I can't trace from where they are coming . I tried the Combat packets which they didn't go near. Saw online reveiws saying this product worked. Was unable to find it in local stores, so ordered online. The ants didn't go anywhere near it either, The ants are not attracted to the sugar bowl, but to the creamer bowl and and a dead beetle on the floor, so I suspect I have protein ("grease ants"). It should be noted on the front of the packages, and the product description on the site that the product is for sugar eating ants only. Waste of money.
We occasionally get tiny black ants. When you find where they are coming in, you apply a bead to the area. This products has never failed to work. Ants always disappear. One neighbor said that she had to re-apply, but I question if she found the entry point. Usually around a electrical box, one time it was a crack under a cabinet.
In order for ant bait to work, they have to eat it. My ants do eat the Combat ant gel. It is easy to use Just squirt a bit on a little square of foil and place it in the area of the nest or right on the trail. It is supposed to work by allowing the ants to bring it back to the nest so it kills the queen and the rest of the colony. The only drawback I can see so far is that it is very slow acting on a large nest and it feels like you are feeding the whole ant population in the area. Make sure you replenish the bait as they eat it
For Indoor Use: Visually inspect for ants and place gel in areas where you see ants. Do not place bait in locations that are frequently washed, as bait will be removed by washing. Do not treat food preparation surfaces. Do not use this product in or on electrical equipment where a possibility of shock hazard exists. Product may stain textiles and clothing.
For Outdoor Use: Place gel outdoors into, on or adjacent to structures where you see ants, next to ant trails and suspected areas of ant activity. You will notice fewer ants in days.

To apply gel: Remove cap from tip, touch tip to surface and depress plunger. Place gel in areas of suspected ant activity, next to ant trails and near ant nests. Recap tube after use. Avoid applying gel in direct sunlight.
Apply gel in spots in cracks and crevices. For best results, make many spots or dabs of gel where you see ants foraging and entering the structure.
Do not apply gel to areas which have been recently sprayed with insecticide or contaminated with foggers, and do not spray insecticide over gel as this may cause bait to become repellent.
Inspect placements and reapply as needed. Keep exposed gel away from open foods and food contact surfaces.
