Common Sense is serious hand therapy and overnight relief for chapped hands and splits in the skin by the fingernails. I am so glad it is available as I haven't found anything that works as well. It is a little greasy so it is best applied before sleeping and wear cotton or silk gloves to keep it from getting on bedding. I will buy this over and over again and I have been using it for years. A little bit goes a long way. I ordered two tins for the winter.

The skin at my fingertips next to my nails often splits in the winter time. I've tried many products that supposedly help to heal these painful cuts, but this pure lanolin is the only thing that has consistently healed them and prevented more from happening.

I was familiar with a lanolin ointment that I used many years ago, but this product is 100% pure lanolin straight from sheep wool. When it's first applied it may seem sticky, but once it's worked into your skin it is neither sticky or greasy. It DOES smell like a sheep barn, though. I don't mind that, being a country woman, but others might find the odor offensive.

I highly recommend this product to anyone who needs a gentle, natural ointment for their hands or chapped lips, elbows, knees and heels.

Pure lanolin is wonderful for cracked heels and cuticles. I like this product so far. It's nice to have it in a tin because it's easier to use then squeezing lanolin out of a tube.

I work outside all day, and had terrible chapped lips that seemed to get worse every day despite all my usual methods & products. They'd get a little better, and then I'd forget to reapply lip balm, and I'd be back at painful, peeling, bright red lips. I put some lanolin on them one night (not a whole lot!), and voila--healed. It stays on really well, and the little tin should last a long time. I've also been using it on my elbows and knees before I shower, that way they get moisturized but are less sticky.

I got this because I do pottery and the natural earth clay dries out your hands horribly, making them crack and rough. Was recommended by a fellow potter, and am glad I got it. A little goes a long way, let warm up to room temp, wipe of excess when done or use put on powder less latex gloves during the night for further absorption.

Years ago they sold lanolin for hair and I loved it because I have thick, fine, dry hair. This calmed it and gave me control. It also added a healthy shine. Place a bit in the palm of your hand to warm it. Then rub your hands together and gently into your hair. You will love it!!

I am currently using this product to try and minimize pregnancy related stretch marks. It is hard to put on, it feels really hard in the container. It pulls at my skin when I put it on, and tends to feel really sticky. It's not soft. However, it does work in softening my skin. It feels a little bit weird, definitely not like lotion or body butter at all, more like spreading lip balm all over your body.

I use it all over--on super dry patches on my face, on my heels and elbows, on my nails and cuticles, and even on the tips of my hair when it gets damaged and "crunchy". I've never had problems with break-outs and my skin is sensitive to all kinds of things. If the tin is cool/cold the lanolin can be hard, and hard to use. Put the whole tin behind your back while you're sitting in an upholstered chair, or under your thigh, or run your hairdryer on it for a minute to warm it up. Lanolin doesn't soak in quickly, so it's better to use it at night or sitting in front of the TV, and don't try it under your makeup no matter how dry your skin is; it makes a nasty, cake-y mess.

I used this on my very chapped lips for a day. It lasts a long time, but the next day I had pimples all around my mouth. I've never had such a bad reaction to a skin care product before. The smell is unoffensive and the tin is nice, though, so I probably would have kept using it if it agreed with my skin.
