I've had plantars warts since childhood, due to a lot of time spent at local pools. After an initial surgical removal by a podiatrist, which was unpleasant and failed to keep the warts from returning, I used liquid wart remover for years. It's messy and smells terrible. I then used a wart stick, which was cleaner, but totally ineffective - you can't pinpoint spots, it works slowly, and you end up removing large chunks of your skin.

This new gel product from Compound W is the best I've tried. It's easy to apply, can target just the wart area, has no smell, and dries relatively quickly. It also acted much faster than the other products I used (I'd say the warts were removed within a week). History tells me the warts will return (for life, perhaps), but at least this product will allow me to control them better.

This does remove stubborn warts. It has a slightly odd mode of action. It kills the top layer of the wart w/ strong salicylic acid each day of use, but it doesn't wash off, even in the shower. The dead layer can't be removed by scrubbing w/ a cleaning cloth.

Instead, the way it works is that the product sticks to the wart and dries like a strong, waterproof glue. In order to remove the part of the wart killed, one has to peel the product off the wart. (The only way the product will come off.) The dead part sticks firmly to the product and is yanked off the still live part of the wart (or the underlying skin) each day of use. It usually causes slight bleeding and can be a little painful.

There is no way to use twice a day as directed. The warnings say not to use on "irritated" or "reddened" skin. It takes at least a day after each use to heal before it is safe to reapply.

The good thing about this product is that when dry it is so tough that it won't rub off on clothes or dissolve in sweat, so you don't need to bandage the area when it is on. You may need to bandage the spot each time you pull the product off, though. It does do the job and gradually remove the wart, and costs a lot less than surgical removal.

I agree with others. The liquid dries out really fast and this Gel seems to last a lot longer and work just as well.

Comments about Compound W Wart Remover Gel, .25 oz:

I had been using the wart discs with concealer sticker. What a pain and it leaves sticky goo on you socks, can't even go to yoga with these on unless I totally tape up my feet and even then, the disc doesn't really stay on the same spot. And the salicylic acid that comes in the small jars…useless. The stuff would dry up in a matter of a week and didn't do much anyway.

I can't recommend this gel enough. In addition to soaking my feet in apple cider vinegar, I would put this on my feet at night and sometimes first thing in the morning. I really thought I'd have to go through the whole tube considering I have a few warts on my feet. Nope, plenty left. What a relief and fast too!

Comments about Compound W Wart Remover Gel, .25 oz:

I used this product on a finger and a small bump on my face that I decided was a wart. This is powerful stuff and worked after only a few applications though both warts were very small. Not surprisingly, this caused a pretty intense sore on my face and I'm still waiting for it to heal but I'm confident it will and be worth the trouble.

Comments about Compound W Wart Remover Gel, .25 oz:

I started with having one wart on the side of one of my big toes. At first, I just thought maybe it was a callous but later on realized that it was, in fact, a wart. I was hoping that maybe it would just kind of go away on its own, but instead it turned into two, then three warts. Just a week or so ago, I just happened to find some Compound W gel in my bathroom and decided to give it a shot. I went in not having much hope considering how long I have had this wart and how it had been multiplying. However, to my surprise, it actually worked and fast! They aren't gone yet, but the fact that they are noticeably smaller after only using a handful of times is amazing! Just be careful to only apply the gel to the wart. I got a bit on the surrounding area, which resulted in layers of skin pealing off. (not every pleasant or attractive) Overall, so far so good!

I used this product to get rid of a small growth on my hand, probably a wart. Within a week it was gone - as if it was never there. No pain, no bleeding, easy.

Comments about Compound W Wart Remover Gel, .25 oz:

My husband has three to four warts in his ear on the outside edge. I have been treating it off and on and those warts seem to be dwindling nicely. Those old icky warts really turned me off. What is especially nice about the gel is that it doesn't run. Therefore, I didn't have to worry about the liquid running down into his ear and/or ear canal. One of the biggest pluses is that it doesn't hurt or burn. No problem treating his ear because it doesn't hurt.
