She had seen it on TV and so I looked it up and thought there is no way that this is going to function the way it's suppose to... I read a few reviews and it seemed to be getting good ones so I reluctantly got it... She loved it! After a few trial runs she got the hang of it and can do it herself, if she's in front of a mirror. She had fun doing her 4yr old sister and even put one in our 1yr old daughters little tuft of hair on top! She's decorated her friends hair and it does tend to get more stuck in hair that is more curly or frizzy. All around good product for those hard to buy for girls at the in between age where they don't want "toys" anymore but aren't teenagers yet! Every girl in the house including grandma's and monster high dolls has cute bling in their hair by the afternoon. Recommend a little care taking them out so that hair does not get ripped out by little hands.

Comments about Conair Quick Gems Hair Jeweler Model HJ3BC, 1 ea: My 7-year-old daughter is Asian and has very long, fine, straight hair. Regular barrettes simply do not stay in her hair. Although these gems do NOT hold hair in place, they add beautiful little sparkles to her ponytails that she and I absolutely LOVE! The gems stay in place surprisingly well, but I wish there were refill gems because the little things do get lost sometimes. Please sell replacement gems!!!!

She loves to do my hair so I'm glad that it is easy to for her to use and it doesn't hurt when she pulls them out. I wish they would stay in finer hair a little better and that the springs wouldn't get so loose, but all in all they are a fun thing and she love them. She was even able to place a few in Mom's hair, too. I was hoping that the gems could be used to hold some hair in a style, but they are really just to add some bling. Fun and cute!!
