I bought it about a week ago and I am VERY unhappy. The wavy plates work AWFUL also. If you are thinking about purchasing this straightener STOP! and go look at a ceramic straightener! The metal on this straightener will damage your hair and make your hair look really bad. If you were considering buying this product because you want your hair to be wavy, just buy a ceramic curling iron and use it on low heat or any other method! This product sure does claim to do a whole lot, but all it achieves is EXTREME damage. Reviewed by 23 customers Sort by 9/7/2006 This may seem like a good ... By Anonymous from Undisclosed This may seem like a good price, but it's a waste of money. The plates fall off the iron constantly, and my hair doesn't get completely straight when I use it. When I first bought it, it worked OK but now I'd rather burn my scalp using a clothing iron. It used to take me around 3 hours to staighten my hair with this. Was this review helpful? I had to go through the same strip of hair about 8 times before it even started to look straight. And as for the Waver feature, it's just as useless. Conair is usually a great manufacturer of products, but this one needs to go. Was this review helpful? Yes / No - You may also flag this review 11/11/2005 I hate to be rude, but ... By Marci from Undisclosed I hate to be rude, but this straightener is terrible. I have had it for a while and ever since I first got it, it's worked awfully! It takes forever to heat up and tears the ends of my hair causing split ends. I use my friend's CHI often and my other friend's Sedu, and believe me -- they work a million times better! Sorry, but I wouldn't recommend this product. Was this review helpful? Yes / No - You may also flag this review 6/28/2005 I've had this for years. ... By Trista from Undisclosed I've had this for years. It's very simple. I use it for my ends or my roots. Sometimes I consider investing in a hotter/quicker heating one but for the amount I straighten I think this is fine. Not sure what the black plate is supposed to do. Shine-ify? I don't think so. This might be the reason that my hair isn't a fried disaster. Was this review helpful? Yes / No - You may also flag this review 6/24/2005 This product is AWFUL. I ... By lauren from Undisclosed I bought this piece of junk a while ago, when my hair was naturally straight. I still remember when the plates would fall out and burn my feet. Seriously, if you are 8 years old, polka dots and crimping may seem peachy-keen, but now that I'm older all I want is for my hair to be either pin straight or curly, not a frizzy mess. There are pretty good straighteners for less than this one, with the only plate you will ever need - the straightening one. And the velvet plates smell like they're burning when they heat up. Was this review helpful? Yes / No - You may also flag this review 5/14/2005 Ok, I hate to be blunt, ... By Christy from Undisclosed Ok, I hate to be blunt, but this straightener/crimper/shiner is a piece of junk. It takes forever to heat up, and even then, it doesn't get anywhere near hot enough. I mean some straighteners may fry your hair, which at least gets it straight, but this one doesn't even do that. The other pieces don't work because they don't stay on (they slide off), and if by some miracle your hair does get crimped, it doesn't stay for more then twenty minutes. My advice is to save your money and buy a CERAMIC (preferably IONIC too) FLAT IRON. It works better, heats up faster, and doesn't damage your hair. Was this review helpful? I mean honestly, I used this straightener all through my early years. Was this review helpful? Yes / No - You may also flag this review 4/20/2005 The straightener does not ... The straightener does not get close to being hot enough. The metal plates get the hair caught between them, causing breakage. I just bought a professional ceramic straightener, and this product does not even compare. Do not waste your money. The waver and crimper work, but only if you hold each section of the hair on it for at least 30 seconds. All in all, it took me over two and a half hours to wave my hair! Who has that kind of time?
