Prior to drinking, check to ensure the lid is properly threaded to body and screwed down 100%. Button should be depressed to release pressure each time the lid is screwed on.
Press the Autoseal® button when the tumbler is in the upright position just prior to lifting it to drink. This will release any built-up pressure. Release button to seal mug.
Caution: Avoid accidental depressing of the button by transporting filled mug in upright position, clear of other objects.
Do not overfill. Fill liquids to just below the threading in the body.
Keep out of reach of children when filled with hot liquids.
Not intended for carbonated beverages as pressure build-up can be extreme. Suitable for use with non-carbonated cold and hot beverages.
Do not microwave and do not freeze.

Comments about Contigo West Loop Travel Mug with Auto Seal Technology (16 oz), Black:
I was looking for a travel mug that I could trust not to leak while slinging it around in the outer mesh pocket of my backpack or while taking sharp turns in the car. I also wanted a mug that would keep my hot coffee hot for as long as it takes me to drink it. The Contigo West Loop delivered on all counts.
The body of the mug remains perpetually cool to the touch - no heat loss there. The lid's ingenious design keeps every drop secure unless you depress the Autoseal button. If you're not holding the button down, you can literally hold the mug upside down, shake it around, and not a drop comes out (I tried it). This, of course, means that you have to constantly depress the button while you sip, but that becomes second-nature after a while. Not an issue.
Best of all, the mug has managed to keep my beverage nice and hot for as long as it's ever taken me to finish my coffee - the longest so far has been about 2 hours. As you might expect, the less hot liquid in the mug, and the more frequent you release the auto-seal to sip, the faster it will cool. Again, not an issue unless you're seriously nursing the last few sips of your hot beverage.
My ONLY gripe with the Contigo West Loop mug is the lack of a drinking "lip". It doesn't warrant docking a full star from the rating, but if I could dock a half-star, I would. This is purely personal preference, but I like mugs that have a small lip to channel the beverage as I sip, and to catch the drop or two that might escape my lips. It can also serve to marginally cool an extremely hot beverage which, given the insulating properties of this mug, would be a nice feature. Again, this is personal preference, and given the other excellent performance features of this mug, I can easily overlook this design choice.
Overall, a fantastic travel mug that I'm thoroughly pleased with. I would highly recommend it.
Bottles and lids are top-rack dishwasher-safe, but hand wash recommended for best results.
Wash all parts with hot soapy water before use. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Always store with the lid removed to allow parts to dry completely.
To drink, press the AUTOSEAL® button when the bottle is in the upright position prior to lifting it to drink. Return to the upright position and release the button to seal the bottle.
Prior to drinking, check to make sure the lid is tightened securely.
Do not overfill. Fill liquids to just below the neck of the bottle.
This product is leak-proof only when properly maintained and properly assembled, and the AUTOSEAL® button is in the closed position.
