A redheaded, extremely fair-skinned friend recommended this sunscreen to me as an alternative to the absorbing sunscreens. I love this stuff, and will use it from now on.

Family was in the sun and in and out of water and inner tubes for an entire day - NOT ONE BURN

Of course it isn't going to feel as nice as the absorbing products - it sits on top of your skin (so I don't understand the negative comments regarding that characteristic)

INSTANT COVERAGE - unlike absorbing sunscreens, you get instant protection and don't have to wait the obligatory 15 minutes before entering water. My kids totally dig that.

A little white, but not much. Not enough to consider as a negative.

NO AWFUL SMELL...this stuff smells pleasant

PRICE POINT...compare this to the other sensitive skin, non-chemical products and you will be impressed.

Highly recommended for people with normal skin as well as sensitive skin.

Very dry so it is difficult to spread. It also looks very white and doesn't rub in or fade. In spite of the dryness, it runs with a little sweat and collects in skin creases. Looks bad, hard to use, I won't buy it again.

Comments about Coppertone Sensitive Skin Suncreen Lotion, SPF 50, 6 fl oz:

I have been told by more than one skin expert that sunscreens with zinc oxide are the best of the bunch. This product is far less expensive than the one my dermatologist recommended yet it lists the same ingredients. I have very fair and very sensitive skin and so far it has worked well for me, even on my face.

I'm sure it protects well, but what good is that when it is awful to apply and uncomfortable to wear?

I wound up throwing the bottle I had away, it was that bad.

Was a little thicker and harder to rub in than I expected. It did seem to be very water resistant and one of the only choices without oxybenzone. I will probably continue using it but I did hear that titanium oxide may also have some hormonal impacts so I need to find out more about that.

Comments about Coppertone Sensitive Skin Suncreen Lotion, SPF 50, 6 fl oz:

I am extremely fair skinned (I do not tan at all) and my boyfriend has average skin that tans pretty easily and rarely burns. I put on this sunscreen and he put on a generic SPF 30. We then rode on the boat, walked about a mile on the beach, swam in the ocean for 2 hours and accidentally fell asleep on the beach for two hours. He ended up with terrible burn and I did not burn at all except for my toes (which I must've missed when applying). With any other sunscreen I would have been severely burned. I will only be buying this sunscreen from now on.

It is extremely thick and hard to rub in, but if you burn easily and don't want to reapply every hour, this stuff is wonderful!

Comments about Coppertone Sensitive Skin Suncreen Lotion, SPF 50, 6 fl oz:

I had switched over from chemical to physical sunscreen about 2 years ago, given that I do not want chemical-based products being absorbed into my body, and also learning that zinc oxide protects much more effectively against UVA rays. Chemical sunscreens, at most, only protect against UVB rays. Zinc Oxide is the ONLY physical sunscreen that does the job of protecting against all UV rays, both UVB and UVA. This product is incredible. It's non-whitening, non-greasy and doesn't have that awful chemical sunscreen smell. Granted, it does contain some chemical sunscreens, but the amounts are relatively low, and the amounts of the Zinc are higher, which is great for broad-spectrum protection. I highly recommend this product. Blue Lizard Sensitive and Badger also excellent physical suncreen products.

This stuff is GREAT! If you check it out on the Environmental Working Group's (EWG) Cosmetic Database you will see that unlike many sunscreeens out there it actually has EFECTIVE UVA and UVB protection, and more amazingly as I know from using it, it's lightweight, works well under makeup, doesn't give you that white mask-like look and although I am very breakout prone it does not cause breakouts. Amazing! I have tried out and researched literally hundreds of sunscreens. Nothing come anywhere close to the efffectiveness of this product. Try it. You won't be sorry.
