Indications
Helps prevent sunburn. Provides protection for UVA and UVB rays that may contribute to premature aging of the skin. Retains SPF up to 40 minutes of water immersion or perspiring.
Warnings
Sun alert: Limiting sun exposure, wearing protective clothing, and using sunscreens may reduce the risks of skin aging, skin cancer, and other harmful effects of the sun. May stain some fabrics. For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact, flush eyes with water thoroughly. Do not use if sensitive to ingredients. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Consult a doctor or healthcare professional if irritation persists. For use on children less than 6 months of age, consult a doctor. Keep this and all medications out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center. Sun protection measures: Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a Broad Spectrum SPF value of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures including: limit time in the sun, especially from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. and wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats and sunglasses. It's free of aluminum, parabens, and chemical sunscreens that may be toxic.
I haven't seen any additional sun damage since I've been using this, so I assume it's protecting me against UVA as well as UVB.
Be aware that it's tinted slightly tan. I'm the palest person I know, and it only shows on my skin if I'm very lazy about rubbing it in, but it also sometimes rubs off on white clothes and shows up when I sweat. The tint is probably to cover the whiteness of the zinc oxide, so ZO users will run into this problem one way or another anyway.
My skin does NOT break out under this product; I even get the impression that it calms my rosacea skin down when I use it.
I will continue to use this, as it's the safest and (to my knowledge) most effective option, but I wish untinted were a choice!
Apply generously and uniformly to all exposed skin areas before exposure to sunlight. Continue to rub in until fading occurs, especially in hair bearing areas. Reapply as needed and after washing, swimming, towel drying, or sweating for maximum protection.
