I'm a costumer and makeup is a finishing touch expense that can really add up at the end. I recently needed a few colors to blend over white-primed eyebrows for three different costumes. I was considering ordering something like Lime Crime, but remembered this. I was a little worried as I haven't had great luck with drug store brands being bold in a very clean way, they often have a lot of mica shimmer, too. I looked up photo reviews and gave it a shot. It worked even better for me than expected, a great inexpensive alternative when you need a fairly bold colors! With moist application or over a creamy white pencil, it is fairly noticable.
Tropical Fusion is novel, but not necessarily "clown makeup"! I wear the orange with a similarly colored blouse on normal days. With a very light touch, it doesn't look very bold. The loudness of the colors lessens with lightness--so the blue is fairly noticable. There is a bit of shimmer that I could do without, but some may like it.
I use it every time I go out but it also looks great just to wear out during the summer. It really shows off your eyes! It goes on great and lasts all day.
Is it just me, or did CoverGirl change its formula? I do NOT remember their eyeshadows being so smooth and pigmented!!! Huh... Anyway, at first look, the Tropical Fusion quad can look a little garish and off-putting. Don't look at this particular quad as a kit. Think of it more like a traditional eyeshadow palette - just a bunch of single colors that are grouped together. While the colors together look kind of scary, each color can be used on its own to add a little umph to your look (the dark blue is awesome for a smokey eye, by the way).
