The color stays on forever. I put it on before a wedding. Did all the wedding things...eat, drink, smooch, brush teeth, etc...and the next morning I woke up and it was still on! I didn't have to reapply at all. If you do have to reapply, I would suggest taking the original application off and starting over. It does not layer well...it will start to peel off. Otherwise, this product is perfect!
