Like a precision eye liner, it takes skill and effort to put on a stain. It's not going to magically coat the lips with moisturizing shine and you DO have to LET IT DRY ALL THE WAY (3-5 minutes; beauty takes time) before applying anything over it. Don't judge a colour by the name. i.e. This Nude stain is not your typical nude you would find in a gloss or stick but that's ok co's I love all the stains. They give more of a pop than I thought. Anyway, the best thing to do is apply the stain as a lip liner onto clean, dry lips first, then fill in as you go. A few minutes later, then I apply a simple balm with spf. Wear was good, about 3-4 hrs. Since it's a stain, it is not moisturizing and if your lips are the least bit chapped, you will need a balm or gloss to wear on top of it. Expected a stain to be long-lasting, but it's not. Unfortunately, I had the same results from NYC Smooch-Proof Lipstain. Both were a waste of money!

Everyone came on so dark I had to wipe it off to get the result I wanted. NYC Smooch Proof lip stains are the way to go and it costs less. I would love to send every Outlast lipstain back.

I have finally found something that doesn't come off! This Lipstain is just that...It is sort of like a Marker. You put it on and it stays on!!! I love how they look, especially with a dab of clear or sheer gloss over them. I have had three of them for several months now and have had no problem with them drying out. I personally like the raspberry-vanilla scent. The key, as others have pointed out, is to let it set before adding gloss or balm or eating and drinking, etc. The colors will also look different on different people as with any makeup. Though they are probably not for everyone, I think they are great and I am pretty picky. I had to scrap it across my lips and that dried them up and made them sting. Whoever invented this product was not thinking straight. A marker lasts longer.
