I'm the type who says that if you don't have time to do the full makeup routine, at least put on some mascara and a little lipstick. Because I think this way, I've tried every mascara in the universe, from both drugstores and department stores, over the past 32 years. This mascara, along with Lancome's pencil eyeliner in Black Coffee, has been in my makeup bag since I was 14 years old and my mother would allow me to wear makeup. I've used Cover Girl Professional for all these years because it doesn't flake (unless it's old), goes on smoothly (unless it's old), and otherwise does what the package says it'll do. One reason it doesn't flake is that it does not have fibers in it for lengthening, which I don't need because my eyelashes are long enough as is - they're just blond, so I only need something that will color them in and give them a little heft. I do not like the look of super-thick mascara; I prefer mascara (and makeup in general) that enhances what's there, not completely changing a characteristic. I use brown or black-brown for everyday and step up to black or very black for a more dramatic or evening look. I can't say that I've used any other cosmetic product for as long as I've used this because I'm always on the lookout for new technologies and methods - yet I'm loyal to products that work well, so I keep coming back to this. Cover Girl's Lash Exact is also excellent, but this Professional is just a little bit more volumizing. I also like the curved brush - I hold it at the base of my lashes for a second or two during application and it seems to capture the whole row of eyelashes and push them upwards (I really dislike eyelash curlers). Its so light that I actually use it as a brow tint. Next, know that the slightest bit of moisture will cause running. Of course the upside to that is easy removal. Now, they call this 3-in-1?? No way. Definition? The mascara is too thick to define lashes, even when combed through. Curl? It can't curl because as it dries it gets stiff and pulls the lashes down. Which is tragic when you have short straight lashes to begin with. Lengthening, then? Nope. Thats just fiberous residue hanging off the tips. Looks like brown lint in the lashes. Hot! This is the only mascara ( straight or curved brush ) my daughter and I will use on our lashes. The black brown color is perfect for our light colored hair. Once I curl my lashes, I like to use a curved wand which helps to separate and coat my lashes. This mascara is so thick it literally "clumps" on my lashes and I cannot get appropriate coverage from each application. I have always enjoyed Covergirl products but unfortunately, not so much this particular mascara! Pros

The mascara goes on easily and stays all day without any smearing or smudging. I usually apply three coats to get the look I want. After each coat, I do something else like applying lipstick or finishing my hair. This is now my absolute favorite mascara (at age 58). So glad to have discovered it! Pros
