I called Crest and they told me that it was taken off the market because its main ingredient, STANNOUS flouride, stains teeth and they no longer make any products with that flouride compound. The popular SODIUM flouride toothpastes prevalent today causes my throat and mouth to develop sores like cold sores. (Three dentists have told me that they have never heard of this before.) FINALLY, there is a product that I can get without a prescription that has STANNOUS flouride. Yes, it stains teeth, but if you think you are allergic to "flouride", try this one. Baking soda and other toothpastes are viable alternatives, but only flourides work to make teeth less sensitive. I am buying all I can of this product before it is taken off the market. It was pretty pricey so I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. On the first use I was startled by the gritty texture of the paste. It just felt weird... Once I was done I had this nasty film left on the inside of my cheeks and gums. It wipes off looking stringy. Lastly and worst of all, my teeth have become extremely sensitive! I have no prior problem with tooth sensitivity but it is bad. I have not used the whitening strips yet either so I know it is not from that. Cold drinks make me cringe... I can honestly say that my teeth feel clean all day but with all of the other issues I will never buy this again. Cons Best Uses Comments about Crest Pro-Health Fluoride Anticavity Toothpaste, Clean Mint, 7.8 oz: I use the invigorating mint flavor, but I have to say this is the first toothpaste I've loved using in a long time. That grittiness people are talking to is an abrasive meant to scour off plaque... How else is a toothpaste going to get rid of something that hard? It's crunchy. I have to keep myself from chewing on it as I'm brushing. It dissolves by the time I'm done brushing, though, so there is no grit left behind if you rinse well. Best Uses Comments about Crest Pro-Health Fluoride Anticavity Toothpaste, Clean Mint, 7.8 oz: I was given this toothpaste to use after some dental work. When I used it I noticed the skin on the inside of my mouth peeling. I Googled it and many, many people had the same problem. Will not be using it again! Best Uses Comments about Crest Pro-Health Fluoride Anticavity Toothpaste, Clean Mint, 7.8 oz: My first impression was that some (disagreeable) abrasive material tasting like sand had been added to the paste formulation. Then I read a disclaimer on the carton that seemed to say that "bad" things could happen to brushers with sensitive teeth if they used it for more than a relatively short time without consulting their dentist. Enough for me. I am immediately pitching this paste and going back to my former Crest. And I did. This is the healthiest my gums have been in 20 years. They are light pink instead of red. And there is no more bleeding at all. I have bought extra tubes for other family members. Comments about Crest Pro-Health Fluoride Anticavity Toothpaste, Clean Mint, 7.8 oz: I'm extremely pleased w/ this toothpaste. I have used Mentadent for years, because it's the only toothpaste I've ever found that has both a pleasent enough taste & keeps my teeth pretty white. I've tried Sensodyne, Rembrandt, Tom's of Maine, etc.- Crest Pro Health is the best. I've been using it for two weeks & have no sensitivity issues, but then, I didn't have any to start with. My teeth were quite grey due to using a Rx antibacterial mouthwash recently, as part of treatment for infected wisdom teeth. My teeth are normally quite white naturally. My grey teeth were embarassing & I thought I'd have to wait until my next dental cleaning to get rid of the ugly staining. But since starting to use the Crest toothpaste twice a day, I'd say my teeth are about 90% back to their normal level of whiteness. I am so impressed with this! It also tastes good. I notice no grittiness, no stringiness, nothing odd at all. Mentadent simply wasn't doing the trick for whitening & getting my teeth to feel completely clean- this conquered both issues at once. The price is also a bit better. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? Comments about Crest Pro-Health Fluoride Anticavity Toothpaste, Clean Mint, 7.8 oz: I tried this product because I liked Crest Sensitivity Toothpaste. I have very sensitive teeth. I thought that the new Pro-Health would provide sensitivity protection as well as lots of other features - as they advertised. Within a couple of days of using this product, I had to start using and drinking tepid water. Cool water hurt my teeth and cold liquids would send me reeling. I'll put this what's left of this tube in my travel bag for short trips and go back to Crest Sensitivity.
