Cold Use:  Provides cold therapy which temporarily relieves minor pain and swelling

Hot use:  Provides heat therapy which temporarily relieves minor muscle and joint pain, stiffness and muscle spasm.

Compress can reach a high temperature.  Therefore, user should wrap the compress with a cloth or towel before applying to bare skin.  People with known or suspected circulatory problems should not use a hot or cold compress except under the direct supervision of a doctor.  Discard if compress leaks gel.  If hot or cold therapy becomes uncomfortable, remove compress for a few moments, then re-apply.

As a Hot Compress:

• Microwave:  Place compress flat on paper towel, set power level to high, heat for 1 minute.  Since microwave ovens vary, more or less time may be required to heat to proper temperature.  Increase or decrease heating time in 15 seconds intervals to reach a comfortable temperature.  Wrap compress in a towel or cloth, then apply to affected area.
• Hot Water:  Boil 2 quarts (2.4 liters) of water, remove pot from heat.  If compress is from the freezer - immerse compress in hot water for 10 minutes.  If compress is room temperature - immerse compress in hot water for 7 minutes.

As Cold Compress:

• Compress should be stored in freezer for at least 2 hours before using or keep one compress in the freezer for instant use.  Wrap in a towel or cloth, then apply to affected area.

Hot & Cool Tip:  Wrap a moist towel(s) that is (are) room temperature or even lukewarm around compress before applying to affected areas for comfort and efficiency.
