This item is a convenient substitute to using ice cubes to cool drinks, food, ...etc. Just put a few of these packs into your small cooler and layer between drinks, food, or any item that you're trying to keep cold and this product will do the trick. I play golf, so I add a few of these to a small cooler that I use on the course. After several hours during the hottest summer months in North Carolina, this product is still cooling. I was disappointed that after only using the paks for a week, one of the compartments sprung a leak. I had only used it a few times and was surprised how delicate they were.

Comments about Cryopak Flexible Ice Blanket, Convenience Pack, 2 ea: I used these packs after I had knee surgery. What I liked was how quickly they froze and how they easily conformed to my knee. If I was doing it again, I would order two packs so I had two of the bigger size, it was more useful for my application. The smaller sized one will be great to use with my kids though, and actually did come in handy to ice the back of my knee. They melt kind of quick because of the small pillows of ice, but it seemed to be just the right amount of time for an ice session. If I had two of the bigger ones it would have been good because then I could have always had one in the freezer to switch off. I would recommend these highly, just be aware that this package contains a big sheet and a small sheet.

They don't take up much room and they keep his lunch cold until lunch time. Over time the cells get tiny holes and leak out, but the last set I bought lasted about 5 years.
