This is a product I have used for years, on a daily basis, for leg ulcers. It's also the only product that doesn't have any negative impact on the very fragile skin. I've looked online before and at my local stores and it's very expensive to purchase. I found this product for over $2 a box less than I pay elsewhere, which adds up real fast. There's reason these are less expensive than J&J product. They are 1/2 the thickness. Wound drainage goes right through the pad and transfers (contaminates) anything the pad touches.....not a good thing. Going back to J&J product. They work great but are 2x the cost.
I use this product to create a bandage around a feeding tube. It works perfectly when combined with paper tape. Couldn't find in stores. Very happy to find online. Good price too. Will definitely purchase again.
The company which owned the product was German - the brand has now been purcahsed by Medline- a USA company.
The product uses a "membrane" like Telfa - but is not Telfa. The "new" product is as good as was the former; no improvement, but as good.
Under the direction of an RN, I use these to treat "pressure ulcers" on Mother's heels. The "new" product works as well as it did when made with "Telfa" - but in buying it you are helping a USA-owned firm - and the product is USA made.
Other leading brands - like J&J - are made in China. I prefer USA made [rocuts- like this one. Some Chinese made products have been shown to be UNSAFE - wo why take chances? Esp with someone's health? Use THIS product - not an import - so you don't take risks with health care.
Cleanse: Gently clean in and around the area with warm water and mild soap, using Curad® Gauze Pads. Apply gentle pressure over the wound to stop the bleeding. If redness or swelling occurs, consult a physician.
Apply: Apply medication, if required. Cover wound with Curad® Non-Stick Pad to protect wound and absorb fluids
Secure: Tape Curad® Non-Stick Pad firmly in place using Curad® Waterproof adhesive tape. Change daily or when pad becomes wet. Curad® also offers a wide variety of excellent gauze pads, rolled gauzes, and adhesive bandages.
