I found out that cortisone injections are costly as well as a laser treatment. I have a keloid scar on my chest that is as wide as pencil and as long as your two front teeth. I've been using this for at least 8 years because my scar is scar tissue that continues to grow. It's becoming flatter and smoother. I can't live without this product until my scar is gone. It no longer hurts. It's no longer red. I use it daily. Cut to the size of your scar and apply. Wash it with soap and water daily.
Let it dry on a wash cloth and reapply on the cleaned scar. One scar pad will last me about 2 in a half weeks. Body heat will cause it to peel around the edges and it may not last as long. Once it easily falls off and no longer adheres, apply a new one.

I first used this product in 2007 after an unfortunate fall left me with a gash over my left eye/brow--this happened to be while i was traveling alone in paris, so i had no control over where i was taken and treated, i was very concerned about scarring on my face.

fortunately, my home doctor confirmed that the stitches were more than adequate, esp given the circumstances. (that is, my not being able to request a plastic surgeon who would do a seamless job.).

he did suggest that i use this scar treatmen to minimize the appearance. the formula for Curad's Scar Therapy at that time was excellent, professional grade, and adhered better than many used in hospitals---at least for its self-adhering properties (not always necessary for some surgical use when recovery limits activity).

i could wear the Curad all day w/o worry of it coming loose and losing benefits; it was also almost unnoticeable, and lasted more than one day. Added benefit, it turns out: dries up latent blemishes before they can rise to the surface!

fast forward 3 years, March 2010 when i got a gash on my nose. steri-strips (fabulous things) until the wound closed, then i enthusiasatically retrieved my remaining Curad Scar Therapy strips. As before, they worked great! even more important for this injury , which was much more visible.

I used up my former box and ordered a new one--naivley optimistic about the 'new, improved' product. It is truly terrible. It adheres only marginally better than your average scotch tape. which is to say not at all. Perhaps it would work well on an area of the body that is completely flat, doesn't move much, and secretes zero body oils. i certainly can't think of any place like that on my active self, so this stuff is the pits.

as far as the moisture transferring properties go, basic blister band aids by different drugstore brands achieve similar effects as the former curad product, though their thinkness makes them less pliable and less sightly. fortunately, a couple of those products match my skin tone well, so i've continued to where those--both on my diminishing scare, and elsewhere on my face for its drawing properties. haven't had a blemish since!

summary: don't by this stuff. complete waste of $ until curad steps up the quality to where it was before. as of now, enormously disappointing.

Comments about Curad Scar Therapy, Silicone Pads, 21 ea:

I love these! When I scar I get keloid scars, those lovely raised scars. These have worked awesome in the past for me on smaller scars but more recently I had major surgery and these have made a HUGE difference on the incision scar.
They are so easy and not messy too- creams you have to keep applying and it eventually rubs or washes off. You stick these pads on and forget them. They can last days (even through showers!) meaning YOU GET YOUR MONEY'S WORTH.

Great product for new/raised scars

Comments about Curad Scar Therapy, Silicone Pads, 21 ea:

This product works great for new scars. It flattened out my raised scar and helped with the darkening of the skin. I tend to get hyper-pigmentation and this did a good job of getting rid of the purple color too. It has silicone in it which helps prevent excess collagen (raising of the skin). Also, it stays on great- very flexible, hardly noticeable too. Highly recommend this product. It has only been 4 weeks and I notice a big improvement. I have tried everything out there too. My scar is on my neck, so I need something that can move and doesn't look like a band-aid. Not so good for old scars, tried this the same time as my new one. Excellent for new ones though.

Not the quality I was expecting...I was looking for the professional grade silicone sheets...this was NOT the professional grade silicone item. Did not work to help appearance of my scar. There are much better, higher quality siliconje sheet products available. The good ones are a nice fabric material. (I don't think I am allowed to say the brand name..so, sorry, can't give you the name of the one My doctor said to get :( ) I Would not recommend them to anyone for scar treatement.

    new and improved !!??

Comments about Curad Scar Therapy, Silicone Pads, 21 ea:

I used the original product, it wasn't bad, really. Now they have this "new and improved" thinner product?! It is absolutely worthless, read the other reviews, it doesn't stick to skin, if it stuck to my skin it would work, but it doesnt, where the hell else is my scar going to be other than my skin?! I think curad just wrote their own bankruptcy papers on this one. Do not buy it, shop for other brands as far as scar silicon strips. The original strips worked well, but these "new and improved" are a joke, do not buy, trust me.

Comments about Curad Scar Therapy, Silicone Pads, 21 ea:

This was my third in a string of many surgeries and I have tried many different types of silicone sheets. I bought these I was very disappointed in the quality of this item. Pads...not at all! It really was like a peice of clear everyday tape on my skin. It pinched when my skin moved and was uncomfortable and itchy. Not at all like the other medical grade scar treatment sheets I tried and was expecting with this product. It did not stay on my skin well enough to even continue using it. I tried taping over it and the feel was unbearable. Also you throw each one away after using...they cannot be washed and re used like the higher quality scar sheets, so the bargain that I thought I was getting here would not really be a bargain since each pack lasts only 3 weeks (if you can tolerate the pinching feel and can get it to stay on). So I would need 4 packs-8 packs for the length of treatment my doctor recommended(do the math). I went back to my doctor and he recommended and gave me a coupon for Scar Away silicone sheets. Scar Away is moderately priced and of medical quality. I have used them before with great success and was hoping this item was similar, but too bad it's not. I guess it is cheap for a reason. I will stick with the medical grade ScarAway pads next time.

Comments about Curad Scar Therapy, Silicone Pads, 21 ea:

Unfortunate Curad decided to 'improve' the product as a silicone version....as it is NOT an improvment. I cannot find the rubber latex version ANYWHERE. I am a VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER. Have used the rubber latex version very successfully on my stubborn burn and surgery scars. Used them for years as needed and (stupid me) assumed they would be available for my new surgery scars. Tried other patches and creams-to no real effect and consider them all a waste of my hard earned money. Curad--you have LOST A CUSTOMER.

Not as good as their previous product

          Best Uses

          • Small scars

Comments about Curad Scar Therapy, Silicone Pads, 21 ea:

You cut this product to the size you need and apply directly to the scar. I have noticed my scar improving in appearance. Curad has changed the formulation of this product since the last time I bought a box. I recently had hip surgery and bought more. I had been using the leftover box of the old product and found that it stayed on better than the new product. Also, the old product came with tape to keep it on. The new product does not come with tape, but with a big scar like mine, I still need it. Also with the skin pulling and stretching with standing and sitting, the new product is either stretched and trying to pull off or it crinkles when you stand up. I have to apply it while sitting down and then it crinkles when I stand up. Since my scar is pretty big, I have to tape the pieces together so they don't come off. I think this product would work great on an area that is not affected by body movements which stretch and pull the skin.

Ordered this product for my daughter after it was recommended by her doctorr. She had a bad cut that required stitches and it left a keloid on her knee. We are seeing some results after only a week and a half of usage.
Having dark skin it is starting to lighten the surrounding area of the scar and that we don't like too much.
