I found out that cortisone injections are costly as well as a laser treatment. I have a keloid scar on my chest that is as wide as pencil and as long as your two front teeth. I've been using this for at least 8 years because my scar is scar tissue that continues to grow. It's becoming flatter and smoother. I can't live without this product until my scar is gone. It no longer hurts. It's no longer red. I use it daily. Cut to the size of your scar and apply. Wash it with soap and water daily.
Let it dry on a wash cloth and reapply on the cleaned scar. One scar pad will last me about 2 in a half weeks. Body heat will cause it to peel around the edges and it may not last as long. Once it easily falls off and no longer adheres, apply a new one.

I first used this product in 2007 after an unfortunate fall left me with a gash over my left eye/brow--this happened to be while i was traveling alone in paris, so i had no control over where i was taken and treated, i was very concerned about scarring on my face.

fortunately, my home doctor confirmed that the stitches were more than adequate, esp given the circumstances. (that is, my not being able to request a plastic surgeon who would do a seamless job.).

he did suggest that i use this scar treatmen to minimize the appearance. the formula for Curad's Scar Therapy at that time was excellent, professional grade, and adhered better than many used in hospitals---at least for its self-adhering properties (not always necessary for some surgical use when recovery limits activity).

i could wear the Curad all day w/o worry of it coming loose and losing benefits; it was also almost unnoticeable, and lasted more than one day. Added benefit, it turns out: dries up latent blemishes before they can rise to the surface!

fast forward 3 years, March 2010 when i got a gash on my nose. steri-strips (fabulous things) until the wound closed, then i enthusiasatically retrieved my remaining Curad Scar Therapy strips. As before, they worked great! even more important for this injury , which was much more visible.

I used up my former box and ordered a new one--naivley optimistic about the 'new, improved' product. It is truly terrible. It adheres only marginally better than your average scotch tape. which is to say not at all. Perhaps it would work well on an area of the body that is completely flat, doesn't move much, and secretes zero body oils. i certainly can't think of any place like that on my active self, so this stuff is the pits.

as far as the moisture transferring properties go, basic blister band aids by different drugstore brands achieve similar effects as the former curad product, though their thinkness makes them less pliable and less sightly. fortunately, a couple of those products match my skin tone well, so i've continued to where those--both on my diminishing scare, and elsewhere on my face for its drawing properties. haven't had a blemish since!

summary: don't by this stuff. complete waste of $ until curad steps up the quality to where it was before. as of now, enormously disappointing.

My husband is using this on a 5 inch facial scar and it is producing results. We had some of the original Scar Therapy strips from a few years ago and they were thicker and laid flatter on the skin. There was more coverage of the scar.

I tried to use these pads for a small surgical scar on my arm. They did not stay on at all. They were thick and uncomfortably itchy. Also it says to replace every day so the box only gives you 3 weeks worth. I would have to buy 4 boxes of these to get the same supply another brand gives in one box. I though these were the professional silicone sheets you can wash, but I was wrong. Purchased another brand that you can wash and re-use for a week each pad...They stay on better and are more economical.

This is a great product for raised and discolored scars. I didn't think it worked the first few days, but a week later I was very surprised by the results. The scar is flattened and many shades lighter. I will keep using it until the scar disappears. It's also very comfortable to wear, and if it peels in the shower just wait until it dries a bit and stick it back on.

Comments about Curad Scar Therapy, Silicone Pads, 21 ea:

The problem with these is that they don't give you a whole supply and they are only good for a day, or until you take a shower. You can't reapply them. They are VERY sticky, so I suggest taking them off in the shower. They seemed to work pretty well, but I will need to buy more eventually, and they are not easy to find around here. I also used the Neosporin sheets and it's a tough call to say which are better. These are cheaper, which is nice, but the Neosporin ones give you an entire supply and can be used over several days. These give a lot of pressure and really help flatten down the scar, which is good. I have a large, hypertrophic scar which is very puffy and ugly. Since I've been using these, it has gotten flatter, softer, and smaller, but it is still puffy and ugly. I will buy these again, though. I also like that these are clear. But I would not recommend using them on your face, except maybe at night.

Comments about Curad Scar Therapy, Silicone Pads, 21 ea:

This product greatly flattened my hypertrophic scar just above my lip. It's so much easier to cover it with foundation in the morning.
My scar also would itch and feel tight before I tried these pads. It even helped that!
I am giving it 4 stars because it didn't really help the white discoloration I have. If your scar is new and red, not white, it might help the coloration.

Comments about Curad Scar Therapy, Silicone Pads, 21 ea:

I miss their old patches; 10 years ago they faded a neck surgery scar to almost nothing! These new, thicker patches don't stick as well, and don't seem to have any effect on my brand-new surgical scar. I'll use up the pack though, then I'll try to find another product that works. Two stars, because the sheets are clear-ish rather than the typical band-aid color.

Comments about Curad Scar Therapy, Silicone Pads, 21 ea:

I used these for over year now, my keloid on my chest did shrink and gotten more soft, apparently the center of the chest has notfatty tissue, unless you have muscles, so the healing was more difficult, as it definitely needs to work out and build the flesh. The pads stick very well and last through out the night and day. If I work out and sweat, it still stays on, just dry with a towel and they continue to stick. If you apply light pressure on the pads it is more effective, or try using a elastic velcro strap with the nerf lining which will make it more comfortable, and will definitely increase the effectiveness and the time it will take for the skin to heal. I also had several scars from scabs on my cheek, due to bad healing from pimples, but after using them consistently, they soon have faded away.

Comments about Curad Scar Therapy, Silicone Pads, 21 ea:

I fell off my bike (and flat on my face) in August of 2005. A plastic surgeon gave me a steriod shot in the wound to enhance healing and also recommended the Curad scar pads. I wore them for 4 months. The change in the look and feel of the scar was amazing. Recently, I decided to use them again. While the scar really is very small now, it's right on the lip line, and I wanted to see if I could minimize it even further. The package said that the product would work even on old wounds. In a couple of weeks, I've already noticed an improvement, and the scar is already 18 months old. When I wear lipstick, the scar is not noticeable at all. And without lipstick, I'm probably the only one who notices it.
