Do not use if you are now taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric, or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug. Ask a doctor before use if you have
chronic cough that lasts as occurring with smoking, asthma or emphysema
cough that occurs with too much phlegm (mucus)
Stop use and ask a doctor if cough lasts more than 7 days, cough comes back, or occurs with fever, rash, or headache that lasts. These could be signs of a serious condition.
If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.
Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
I have tried various cough suppressants but this is my go to for overnight relief. Straight honey works well but only for about half an hour or so. I'll also use Vick's vapor rub for a short term relief solution. But for a dry cough that lasts the night this is the only product that I've found to be effective all night.
I was very pleased with this product. Not only did it taste great but it worked even better. My cough would be suppressed shortly after taking the recommended dose. It also can be used for ages other than adult by using the provided recommended dosage.
First off, the grape tastes awesome. (The orange isn't nearly as yummy, in my opinion.) Doesn't taste medicine-y at all.
Then, like some sort of crazy black magic, it seems to work almost immediately. As in, the second you swallow it. Maybe it does something to coat your throat? But anytime I find myself in a coughing fit and am due for a dose, I take the dose and presto... no more coughing.
And it lasts, too. I'm not sure it lasts the full 12 hours, but definitely at least 9-10 hours of solid cough relief... and probably into 12 hours for reducing the coughing if not eliminating it altogether.
Overall, the price tag's a little hefty but is completely worth it!
Nothing else came close to the cough relief I received from this product. After several nights with little sleep-Delsym did the job of suppressing my cough. I tried the nighttime, full-strength, advanced formulas of all other brands and none could do what Delsym did.
