The only thing that controlled it after the steroid therapy, was a coal tar shampoo. They had some real awful ones in the 1970s. Denorex was the best. I can't find it in CA because of some class action suit and drugstore.com is the only place I can find it these days. I use it every other day. My son uses it also, but he has to be careful about sun exposure afterward as it can cause you to get sunburned the next day. It smells awful. I use an additional conditioner afterward as my hair is very dry and it also kills the after odor. Nothing else in all these years has worked as well. It recently became impossible to purchase, much to my disappointment. While not a glamorous shamposs, T-Gel had a thick consistency & worked very well. I have an overactive cell turnover condition, and have my entire life. I am allergic to salicylic acid (the active agent in some dandruff shampoos), and Nizoral, Head &Shoulders, etc. don't work in the long-term for me. So I came upon Denorex, the only one I can find right now with the same active component as T-Gel. While I'm glad there's another product with coal tar on the market, this shampoo is VERY thin & not conditioning in the least. A separate conditioner (leave-in or otherwise) is a must if one wants to be able to get a brush through their hair. I have to use a lot of the product because it's so thin, and the shampoo isn't inexpensive to begin with. I will repurchase only if no better alternative is found. This product has virtually disappeared from pharmacy and supermarket shelves. I recommend shopping at the drug store, because this is true of so many products today. I am very satisfied.

I have tried the same one with the Acetylsalicylic Acid (Aspirin)formula is NOT as effective. I have tried many over the years as I am nearly sixty now and have worked thirty four years as a nurse. Thank you for carrying this formula in this size. I love the combined shampoo/conditioner most. I hope you keep it in stock.

However I was determined to find it!!! I did about 4 years ago, and this product has changed my life. No more flakes, I can actually wear black shirts. IT REALLY DOES WORK!
