I was diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis in my twenties. I am now 41. I have used many products, including over the counter and prescriptions. However, none worked as well for me as Denorex Therapeutic. I was very upset when I could no longer find a product that had 5% coal tar, and began to search for a replacement. Denorex, with 2.5% coal tar, was the only other product I could find with this higher level of coal tar. I have been using it for over a decade now, at least twice per week. It helps maintain my scalp. While I do sometimes have some very slight evidence of my condition along my front hair line (probably only noticeable to me) it is a huge improvement compared to when I wasn't using this shampoo. For me, sacylic acid and the other products seemed to only make my condition worse, and coal tar is the only thing that works. I highly recommend this shampoo!

Having a problem with seborrhea/dandruff for most of my life I found that only shampoos containing coal tar worked for me. Denorex is one of the best on the market. For a while it was hard to find coal tar shampoos because of a group that was against coal tar. The FDA stated that coal tar was perfectly safe to use. I can testify to that because I have been using it for 45 years.

I have delt with dandruff for years, this is the best product hands down. The coal tar is the highest you can get with out a prescription, other products without coal tar simply do not work. If you are tired of itchy flakey scalp this is the answer

I have been using the Denorex Extra Strenght for years. This is NOT it. The Denorex Extra Strenght uses Salicylic Acid (same as aspirin) to kill the bacteria responsible for dandruff. I bought this product thinking it was that formula but this one uses coal tar and it smells. The good news is that this product is really a medication and if used occasionally it will keep dandruff in check. The other formula has some limitations in how much it can do and alternating is the best option. Long story short, this formula stinks like medicine. I would NOT use it everyday. I plan to use the other formula (has a red cap) for daily use alternating with this product for treatment and medication. I prefer these options to a Zinc based product that would just dry the life out of my scalp and hair.

It's nice to fine that the drug store carries a product that I have been using for years. This product has virtually disappeared from pharmacy and supermarket shelves. I recommend shopping at the drug store, because this is true of so many products today. I am very satisfied.

I have used Neutrogena's original T-Gel shampoo with coal tar for over twenty years. It recently became impossible to purchase, much to my disappointment. While not a glamorous shamposs, T-Gel had a thick consistency & worked very well. I have an overactive cell turnover condition, and have my entire life. I am allergic to salicylic acid (the active agent in some dandruff shampoos), and Nizoral, Head &Shoulders, etc. don't work in the long-term for me. So I came upon Denorex, the only one I can find right now with the same active component as T-Gel. While I'm glad there's another product with coal tar on the market, this shampoo is VERY thin & not conditioning in the least. A separate conditioner (leave-in or otherwise) is a must if one wants to be able to get a brush through their hair. I have to use a lot of the product because it's so thin, and the shampoo isn't inexpensive to begin with. I will repurchase only if no better alternative is found.

The shampoo or shampoo/conditioner I found most effective is this one in the COAL TAR 2% formula. I have tried the same one with the Acetylsalicylic Acid (Aspirin)formula is NOT as effective. I have tried many over the years as I am nearly sixty now and have worked thirty four years as a nurse. Thank you for carrying this formula in this size. I love the combined shampoo/conditioner most. I hope you keep it in stock.

I use this product 2 times a week. works great for some minor scabs and flakes I get on my scalp. Tried other products with no success. Denorex theraputic works great.
