What is Denosyl?
Denosyl is an anti-oxident that has been shown to increase hepatic Glutathione levels in the liver of dogs and cats. Denosyl's activity goes far beyond just increasing Glutathione levels. It has been shown to protect liver cells from cell death and may be useful in cell repair and healing.

Denosyl is recommended to improve hepatic glutathione levels to help maintain and protect liver function. 45% of dogs and cats with liver problems have a low hepatic glutathione level. My dog has a tumor which is close to his liver. Denosyl has been used on him for a year and he is still doing well for his age. He was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and tumor and only expected to live a few months. I am caring for him at home with the suggestions from my vet and he is a little survivor. I am so lucky to have this extra time with him.

My 16yo active, healthy Bijon needs Denosyl (vet-prescribed) and Drugstore.com had the best price [...]. My only suggestion, based on my dog's behavior, is to administer it every other day rather than daily, as it has the side effect of making the animal "hyper." (This is basically the same stuff as sAME for humans, which has a similar effect in people... and a lot of people taking it wonder why they're "hyper" - its likely b/c they're taking too much!) The pill has a hard coating so I wouldn't suggest cutting them in half as the coatings allow the pill to get to where it needs to go before dissolving internally. I administer it wrapped in a little piece of bread, then wait an hour before feeding my dog, which is how it is prescribed.

Storage: Store in a cool dry place not to exceed 86°F. Keep tablets in original blister pack until used. Tablets are sensitive to moisture and extreme heat and should not be split or crumbled.

How is Denosyl Administered?
For optimal absorption, tablets should be given on an empty stomach, at least one hour before feeding, as the presence of food decreases the absorption of S-Adenosylmethionine. When giving more than one tablet, the total daily dose may be provided as a morning and evening dose. For example, a daily dose of three tablets could be divided into two tablets in the morning and one tablet in the evening.
