I'd had positive experiences with tea tree oil, though, so decided to try it. My first reaction to the smell was that it struck me as about 75 percent "shoe polish" and 25 percent "musty basement." My husband remarked that it smelled like paint. You'd think I might have tossed it out right away, but I really like how it works on my hair. So I'm continuing to use it every day. If you can take the smell, you might find that you're pleased with this product. If not, I'd recommend the Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat shampoo -- also a very nice product, but with a more minty scent, not near as overpowering as this shampoo. DON'T be fooled - it is nothing like the old stuff. this has a strong peppermint smell (not at all like the old gentle stuff.) and though it says it does not have SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), my body can't tell the difference between that and the closely related sodium coco sulfate they now employ. my scalp broke out in sores from this stuff the first time i used it!buyer beware!!! this isn't the good stuff from about a year ago. Best Uses Comments about Desert Essence Tea Tree Replenishing Shampoo with Peppermint and Yucca, 12.9 fl oz: Despite being all natural, the shampoo smells more like some solvent mixed with plastic. Oddly enough, I also use the conditioner, and it's great.

Comments about Desert Essence Tea Tree Replenishing Shampoo with Peppermint and Yucca, 12.9 fl oz: I love Desert Essence products, but I was a bit dissapointed when the shampoo didn't work for me. I have never had dry scalp until moving to a new climate and started having an itchy scalp from time to time. I used Head and Shoulders which worked fine, but I wanted something organic and so I tried Desert Essence. I kept at it for almost a month hoping it would just take time to kick in, but it didn't. I also wash my hair everyday otherwise I would look like a greaseball. If you don't need this shampoo for dry scalp, I would definitely recommend this and the conditioner. It cleans well and gives my hair a very clean scent after the medicine smell wears away.

Comments about Desert Essence Tea Tree Replenishing Shampoo with Peppermint and Yucca, 12.9 fl oz: I use this product to treat dandruff and scalp itch. My teenage daughters use it also. It works much better than Head And Shoulders. I love the smell. It is a bit drying so some may need conditioner. Helps 100% with dandruff and I love it! My favorite dandruff shampooo!

Comments about Desert Essence Tea Tree Replenishing Shampoo with Peppermint and Yucca, 12.9 fl oz: I loved, loved, loved the old formula which had tea tree oil very high on the ingredients list. It appears that perhaps tea tree oil got too expensive? The company changed the packaging of the shampoo, reduced the amount of tea tree oil in the product (lower on the ingredients list), added peppermint oil and added sulfates (perhaps to make the product clean better after the dilution of the tea tree oil?). I am using the new product now and I much prefer the older product. I have issues with itchy/flaky scalp and funky smelling scalp from fungus growth. The older product really helped to control these conditions. I am not happy with the new product and would be willing to pay more for the older product if tea tree oil is too expensive.

Comments about Desert Essence Tea Tree Replenishing Shampoo with Peppermint and Yucca, 12.9 fl oz: It is great to find an organic shampoo that addresses a dry, flaky scalp naturally. NO PETROCHEMICAL means your health will not be compromised and you will be dandruff free.

Best Uses Comments about Desert Essence Tea Tree Replenishing Shampoo with Peppermint and Yucca, 12.9 fl oz: When I first used this, I had to double check the bottle to make sure I wasn't using dog shampoo. It smells exactly like the one I use on the dogs. I guess that is the Tea Tree smell. I don't like it on my hair. It cleaned, but I just can't get past that odor.
