The scent of tea tree oil is interesting. At first it's too strong, but you do get used to it. This soap does clean your skin, but I wouldn't use it if you have dry skin. And I don't know how much this helps acne. I've had moderate to severe acne all my life. And I think this product keeps the skin surface clean, but acne goes far deeper. If you cystic acne, I don't this will do much. But I do like it, and use it everyday in combination with other things. Note: I used proactive for years, but it has begun to overly dry my skin. Have used and recommended this product for years. I use it for: minor skin irritations, as an all over bodywash, and as a great cleanser before handling contacts. Used it recently to wash my hair when I ran out of shampoo on vacation(didn't strip my hair!!). Can over-dry my face in the winter, so I follow with a moisturizer.

This face wash is organic and the brand is cruelty free. It cleans extremely well and I have read that some think it is drying but I don't. I have combination skin and think it's great. Cleans off makeup really well, and yes it does have a runny consistency so the best way to use this is to get a foaming bottle (like one for liquid foam soap) and put 1/3 soap and 2/3 water (maybe more water I don't really measure) and use it that way. Using it this way it will last FOREVER. This is a great buy and the smell isn't pretty or anything but I do like it. Doesn't smell like tea tree oil which is great. And it's vegan........who doesn't love animals.

So, after reading all the great views about this product. I decided to go and try out this product. My first trial, it dried out my skin a lot. Made my acne flared up even more. Second day, it was burning my skin really bad. I had to stop using it. It was too strong for my sensitive skin.

I've been searching for the right cleanser high and low for a long time and I think I finally find the one! I love this cleanser. It gently cleanses my face without over stripping away my natural moisture. (if I don't leave it on my face for more than a minute). my blackheads are under controlled now. I still have a little here and there but it is not as bad as it used to be. Those big bumps I get around my period are getting smaller and less painful if I use this everyday twice (which I do ever since I got this in the mail). I notice a subtle glow on my face after I wash my face with this. It absolutely wonderful. I don't feel like I need to slather on a lot of lotion like I used to right after I clean my face.　It smells very herbal and earthy. I feel like I'm getting a mini spa when I use this.

A quick tip to use this: I put this in a foam-forming bottle. It's super easy to that way and messy-free.

Overall, I would recommend to people who have combination skin or oily skin and not too picky with smell.

Just finishing my first bottle. My 50-year old facial skin feels and looks soooo much healthier than before I started using this daily to wash my face - no more breakouts (not even after a three-chocolate pieces day!) and no more rough/uneven spots. I even think my large pores have shrunk just a little and aren't quite as dark as they used to be. After reading through the reviews, obviously not everyone is going to get as good results as I have...but I'm definitely glad I tried it and I am going to continue using it.

First of all, I love Desert Essence products. They are organic, work well and are priced reasonably for a natural beauty line. I bought this face wash because it is made by the company and the large size was a total bargin. I was quite shocked when I opened it. Most of their products smell so great you want to eat them (Raspberry shampoo anyone?) This smelled like rusty pipe and mint or some such dirt essence. It did not rinse well, often leaving a soapy residue. Ew. I didn't want to waste the product, so I thought I would take it into the office to use as hand soap. The response was "WHO put this in here? This smells disgusting!" So there you have it. Product failure.
Back to Avalon Organics face wash, which works great, leaves no filmy residue and smells fresh. Do you want your face smelling like Rusty pipes and dirt? I think not.

Left my face feeling like silk and made it glow! It is very liquid, akin to water, and you don't need very much per application, so watch out that you don't pour out half the bottle the first time you use it. The bottle really oughtta come with a pump. Really soothing, and really seemes to keep me from breaking out further. And the smell! My boyfriend doesn't care for it, but I find it intoxicating! The best I can describe it: reminiscent of roasting chile peppers (at least to me), earthy, exotic, almost mentholated or camporaceous. If you get a nice hot shower going, it's like a fancy spa steam room. Bottom line, try it, and if you don't like the smell, you can give it to me!
