Luckily, I was given a sample of Desitin (original). I found it to be the best for healing and preventing diaper rash. I used it consistently, and it always worked. The only con I listed is that this cream is hard to remove from one's hands; however, that is really a "pro," as it shows how well it resists wetness. When my grandson was born a couple of years ago, Desitin Creamy was more available than the original form, and my daughter received some in her baby shower. However, it did not work well at all, as it did not stay on long enough to heal or prevent rash. I found some of the original Desitin for my daughter to use, and she is still using that form of Desitin. She requested it for a Christmas stocking stuffer for her son this year, and I made sure to fulfill her wishes. I don't even have children - I am a distance runner and use it on clothing lines to prevent and treat chaffing from sweaty fabric rubbing against damp skin for hours. I know a few people who don't like it because of the strong smell, but it honestly is the best product out there for diaper rash. And my son's comfort is much more important to me than an unscented product. We were using the Creamy Desitin until my son [*]ed in his diaper overnight and woke up with the worst diaper rash I have seen on him yet. It looked red, raw and he was screaming with discomfort. I switched to the Original Desitin and will never go back. It creates such a good barrier that I never worry about another diaper rash.
