I use Alpha Lipoic Acid 600mg daily on my neurologist's recommendation. I was getting Natrol brand from drugstore.com. Twice I have temporarily discontinued it to test its effectiveness. I recently switched to Doctors Best because it was on sale. I now have exactly the increase in symptoms I get when I quit taking them. I doubled the dose, and still got no relief. I'll be switching back, and tossing these in the trash.

I've been taking ALA for several years to relieve neuropathy symptoms in my feet. What I had found in drug stores was expensive, and required taking 3 capsules to achieve the 600mg dosage recommended. This was much less expensive, and I only need to take 1 capsule. I don't see any difference in potency between it and other brands I have taken. If you are just starting a ALA regimen, be patient. It can take a month or more for it's effects to start taking effect.

Compared to another brand of ALA purchased locally, these pills seem to do much less for pain from diabetic neuropathy. I have to conclude that someone got a deal on cheap alpha lipoic plants somewhere.

I was paying more than twice as much for this at a "health food" store. So, I was a little skeptical at first about how this product would compare. I am very pleased with the product and have ordered it again.

I do not know what other people use this supplement for. I was advised to take it to relieve night limb numbness. I was very skeptical: after all, I had been suffering from night numbness for months and Physical Therapy gave me neither relief nor hope. I took ALA or three months initially and little by little my numbness went away, After about a year, when the symptoms returned, I took it again and again it helped. Now I am taking it regularly, three months at a time, with a three months break in between. It's fantastic: I used to wake up multiple times per night because my arms were numb and now I do not any longer. Even my physical therapist was impressed.
