    I've suffered with sleep disorders my entire life. Meds like Ambien and Lunesta gave me weird side effects - fidgety legs, racing heart rate and just general hyperactivity. The only thing that seems to help is L-Tryptophan, which was recommended by two of my doctors - one of which worked on a research project for L-Tryptophan. He said it's important to get the Ajinomoto Tryptopure (which is this, Doctor's Best.) Other brands have a bunch of other junk in them and don't work the same way. I'm generally a supplement skeptic, but I don't know what I would do without this stuff. I drop off and don't wake up until the alarm goes off. Try it on a night where you don't have to get up early the next day, in case it makes you groggy. Best on an empty stomach, give it a full hour before you want to fall asleep. Hard to find anywhere but Drugstore.com!

      I have used Ambien in the past due to sleepless nights. However, I wanted to use a more natural product and not become dependent or suffer adverse side effects of the drug. L-Tryptophan is natural and an excellent product to use and is very effective. I'm sleeping well and can go back to sleep should I have to get up. Love this product!

            I started with 2 capsules of 500 mg at night (1,000 mg total).

            Here's the deal: I have had insomnia for decades and have tried everything; and I mean EVERYTHING. Some medications have been effective; however some have side effects of next-day drowsiness, and at any rate, I'd prefer a non-pharmaceutical approach.

            L-Tryptophan is an amino acid naturally present in many foods, however usually not in sufficient quantities to use as a sleep aid. One wouldn't want to drink a half gallon of milk before bed, for example. So for the purposes of insomnia, whether occasional or chronic, we take a supplement.

            The most important points I would like to stress about L-Tryptophan: You can take it up to probably even an hour before you fall asleep, and it doesn't MAKE you sleepy. The great thing is when your head hits the pillow, it takes MUCH LESS TIME to fall asleep. AND there is no "hangover" or sleepiness in the morning or at any point during the following day.

            It has enabled me to almost immediately reduce my usual dosage of a POPULAR prescription sleep aid by 50%. I was on 10 mg. of this medication EVERY SINGLE NIGHT for over 5 years. Now I take 5 mg. of the medication -- and NOT every night, either. I absolutely intend to be free of the prescription medication in the next 30 days. The L-Tryptophan allows me to fall asleep in a safer, healthier way. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
