The original silicone pads that were developed for burn victims years ago were a major discovery. Silicone has an almost magical effect on scar healing. The original pads did not adhere and you had to hold them in place against your skin somehow with bandaging. They were also more than double the price of this product for equivalent size.

For those of us who remember using those, this self-adhesive silicone treatment is a huge innovation and vastly improves usability. You can stick it on and forget it. I've often thought that every woman with stretch marks or C-section scars (or any scars of course) should know about this technology because it's the best science has to offer, and yet on forums all you get is people recommending vitamin E or onion extract serums like mederma which are less effective and require a diligent regime. Meanwhile this patch works as long as it's in contact, without you doing a thing.

Over the course of use, the edges of your pad will get stuff stuck to it and look a little manky. I trim mine as needed which helps. I get a new one when I feel it has deteriorated enough to be unsightly.

I've been using this product for about a month and it works fine. I've definitely noticed improvement in the minor scars I have. However, it's not the easiest thing to use. After several wears, they lose stickiness and even after washing them they tend to fall off. I recommend buying a few and practice being patient. The oil that accompanies it is also affective - maybe more so.

I love this product! I've got mulitple surgical scars and have been using it since 2003. Yes, it can be a bit sticky at first and a tad harder to handle, but I've tried several other "similar products" that all stunk in comparison. The other products weren't thick enough or really just looked like a bandaid!
This product is great for surgical scars. You can start using it as soon as the stitches are out and the doc says OK. Usually within 1-2 wks. I used it on my thyroidectomy scar to flatten a keloid that was forming (keloid gone!). I most recently used it on a scar under my arm (from correcting a thoracic outlet injury), The surgeon used glue - first time i've ever had an incision closed that way- and it was a sloppy zig-zag line. After a few weeks of wearing the Blaine patches, it was straight and flat! When I ran out I bought a "similar" kit at a local drugstore chain that just did not add up.
The best thing about Dr. Blaine's patches (besides the fact you can wash and re-use them) is the fact that they actually cushion incisions which can also reduce post-op pain!

I hate this product. It is extremely difficult to use. The sheet can be cut to desired size, but is hard to remove from the backing. The gel on the skin side separates from the backing and sticks to one's fingers. Also sometimes "squeezes" out the side of the patch once put in place and causes my hair to get stuck in it. The pad is supposedly washable and reusable, but bits of the gel get pulled off every time and it starts to fall apart. Total waste of money in my opinion. The curad sheets are much easier to use and stay on without a problem.

This is being used for a healed post surgical scar that I want to get the best cosmetic results for. I found it in a local drug store, started using it, it's a bit sticky, gooey at times, and I felt I could find better. Went on a few plasitc surgery healing product websites from a friend who had had plasitc surgery and ordered her recommended products (silicone sheets) and much to my surprise, the scar started looking worse. They were thin, which I suppose depending on the location would have been desirable. However, the thickness of this product and the softness actually got it to mold into the relief of my scar and within 12 hours of using it again, the scar was again improving.
I am not too interested in the oil that comes along with it, as for my scar, the more I leave the silicone sheet in place, the better it looks. I am 5 weeks after surgery, and 3 weeks treating the scar and it looks fantastic. I fully expect that with time it will look the best it can. It is flat, smooth, and I look forward to the healing color to begin to fade with time as well. It always looks lighter after taking off the strip. I wash it at least every 12=24 hours and reapply.

I ordered Dr. Blaine's Scar Care treatment because I have terrible scars on my legs due to heart surgery. The treatment is really working. My scars have been greatly reduced after three weeks. The only problem I had was that there was not enough of the pad in one package to cover this extensive scarring, so I ordered a second package. All things considered, I would use this product again. I actually can wear a dress or shorts again.

I used Dr. Blaine's Complete ScarCare on my 6 year old son's chest and it worked very well. (He had a scar from a bike accident that looked really bad!) After three months of using the product you can hardly notice the scar. It was easy to use and the silicone actual sticky enough to stay on my active son. I'm curently using the ScarCare on an old scar of mine and it's already starting to flatten and fade.
