Doesn't dry out my hands. Peppermint leaves a nice smell and a cooling sensation. Works up to a nice smooth lather and rinses clean. Won't go back to my old stuff.

I love this soap. I have super-sensitive skin, combined with an urge to wash my hands several dozen times a day. Bad combination. But this soap is one of the best I've ever found in terms of not drying out my skin. Also, I'm picky about soaps that leave a residue/film on my skin; this soap rinses cleaner than any other hand soap I've ever found. In addition, the smell is amazing.

The actual liquid soap is brown. Yes, not attractive. So you'll have to choose between having soap that is a) pretty as it comes out of the pump (for the 2.5 seconds before you lather it up), or b) soap that is natural and uses no chemical/synthetic dyes. For me, the answer is simple. In fact, if the look even matters to you, I'm not sure why you would consider this soap in the first place (you are paying extra for the natural ingredients).

There is currently one negative review, which I believe said the soap smells bad and is too thick. First off, I think the smell is fantastic. It is a natural peppermint smell, due to the actual natural peppermint oils in the soap. I like it, but I can see how some might disagree, because smell is subjective. However, I believe that reviewer also said the soap was too thick; this makes no sense to me. This is the thinnest liquid hand soap I have ever used, and I mean that in a good way; I think that is one reason it feels like it rinses so clean. So I would disregard that part of that review, and attribute it to a misunderstanding or maybe one bad bottle. That just isn't the case at all with this soap.

Buy it, and I hope you like it as much as we do!

My kids love this hand soap which means I don't have to remind them to use it. I love the smell and that it doesn't dry my hands out.

we have been using dr. bronner's soaps for years and jumped at the opportunity to try these new hand and body formulated soaps. they are not as strong as the original dr. bronners which is a good thing when you have small children around and others who may not appreciate the bracing nature of the original formula. that said, they clean effectively, are mild and have a very pleasant smell that doesn't linger nor compete with your perfumes or lotions.

I'd like to start my review by saying that I'm not the kind of person to buy a product just because it's certified "organic," "all-natural," "Fair Trade," or the like. If anything, I'm usually wary of such designations: organic cleaning agents are often less potent than their chemical counterparts. In addition, these terms have become so widely used that it's hard to tell whether a company indeed uses natural ingredients and eco-friendly manufacturing techniques. But Dr. Bronner's Organic Fair Trade Shikakai Hand Soap caught my eye and, on a whim--motivated mainly by the delicious fragrance emanating from the container--I decided to take a chance. What a rewarding gamble it was.

The Dr. Bronner's line is ORGANIC in the most honest sense of the word. It's made from natural ingredients: ingredients I recognize, like shikakai extract, coconut and olive oils, and Vitamin E. This soap is free of the petroleum-based detergents and preservatives that comprise most commercial "soaps." Instead, it's made from a plant extract that has been used to make soap for hundreds of years.

I think it's the use of natural ingredients—and the omission of synthetic elements—that yield such fantastic results. This soap is a powerful cleaner but it leaves my hands feeling replenished. The moisturized feeling lasts, so that I can wash my hands as needed over the course of my day without sacrificing comfort. No more dry, cracked skin for me. And the fragrances are so delightful: Lavender, Spearmint-Peppermint, and Lemongrass Lime.

I like this soap, except the gross brown color, but if I washed my hands (I have sensitive skin) a lot in one day the peppermint seemed to irritate them. Overall, I'd recommend it, just think I'll buy the lavender instead.

I tried this as a replacement for a peppermint/vanilla soap that's no longer available, but this one's scent is a little too strong. I like it in the kitchen to remove cooking odors from my hands. It left my hands feeling cool, so I think this would be a great showering soap to use in the summer.

I love dr bronner's soap and was so happy to see it come in a pump! However, I was VERY disappointed in this. I got both peppermint and the lemon verbena. The peppermint was AWFUL, it stunk, didn't even smell like peppermint, just smelled BAD. The color of the soap is dark brown, it just looks gross. It was much thicker than the usual dr bronner castile soap, it still cleans well and leaves no sticky/slippery residue. But I will not buy again.

Dr. Bronner's is the only hand soap that we use in our house. I keep a Dr. Bronner's hand soap next to each sink. I love that this hand soap is organic, fair trade, and toxic chemical free. This soap feels smooth. It has a great lather. I love the light peppermint scent. It isn't strong or overpowering. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a great non-toxic hand soap.
