I guess the need for this file depends on the severity of dead skin and callouses. If your feet aren't that bad, this is probably a little too rough for you and would probably scratch, but if your feet are rough and dry like mine were, this thing is a necessity! I soaked my feet in warm water and then starting using this file. In just a few minutes, the roughness was gone and my feet were incredibly smooth. I've used a lot of files over the years and this one is the best. My feet are sandal-ready after just one use and that's just unheard of for me! The only improvement I would make on this would be to make the handle a bit more non-slip, but that's it. Even so, it isn't all that hard to hold onto because the handle is contoured and the lack of a non-slip grip isn't bothersome enough for me to deduct a star. Five stars from me!!! I loved the product, it was my favorite. Years ago the powers that be decided that they could made a much cheaper item and pan it off as the same thing. WRONG! The newer "stone" is merely molded plastic with a grit coating the quickly wears off. I find it extremely UNACCEPTABLE. Its a shame that Dr Scholl's discontinued the original product. Comments about Dr. Scholl's Pedicure Essentials, Exfoliating Stone File, 1 ea: I wear boots for 14 hours a day 7 days a week (deployed)in almost daily 100 degree weather. I have only used this product 3 times but there is a difference. So far it works well and I'm pleased. It has a thin gritty coating glued to the plastic handle, which started to peel off the first time I used it. Maybe it will last longer if you don't get it wet. Comments about Dr. Scholl's Pedicure Essentials, Exfoliating Stone File, 1 ea: Since I have a very small shower stall it's hard to use pumice stones cuz i bang my self up plus the ones for showers don't give rid of calloused, crusty feet. Since this one is not a real pumice it seems to work for me. My boyfriend always tells me i have such crusty looking feet. I used this for a few days on the couch on dry feet..first using gentle up and down strokes and then using more pressure. It' wasnt harsh for my delicate feet. I then follwed up with a moisturizer. I took my socks on the other day and he said your feet look silky smooth and not crusty..what have you done? I called the co. and was told never use it on damp feet nor moisturize before hand cuz it will ruin the effectivness of this file. This is a miracle. Cons
Best Uses Comments about Dr. Scholl's Pedicure Essentials, Exfoliating Stone File, 1 ea: We live on the mountain and our winters are harsh. I hardly ever take my socks off so foot care tends to fall to the wayside. I was always embarrassed in the summer to wear sandals. Now a days this is the first thing to come out in the spring. It's perfect for very dry and rough feet. This is not a product for wussy feet. It's much too harsh for just semi-dry feet or even when feet start to clear up but for those first few times this is perfect. I find I get better results and faster with a good lotion. I use Cocoa Butter with Vitamin E ... I found others to be either too sticky or runny and greasy. My feet just suck it up and it heals and softens making it easier to get off the dead skin. Find something that works for you but if you look at your feet and find them utterly lacking ... this is the file for you. Cons Best Uses Comments about Dr. Scholl's Pedicure Essentials, Exfoliating Stone File, 1 ea: This exfoliating stone works much better and faster than regular pumice, which is too smooth to suit me. If you want to thin a callous or remove dry skin on your heels, you want to spend as little time as possible at the task. This product does just that because it has more rasp to it than pumice and is more natural and even than metal files. The handle provides a comfortable grip with just enough reach. It's a great product! Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend (1 of 1 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful? Comments about Dr. Scholl's Pedicure Essentials, Exfoliating Stone File, 1 ea: I have had athlete's feet for a long time. I went to many podiatrist whom subsbribed bleach foot soaks and drugs. Since I brought the Dr. Schols foot file, it has relieved the dry, peeling, cracked, itching, burning sensations on my feet. After I use the Dr.Scholls foot file, I apply tea trea oil and shea butter. I no longer use bleach or take drugs to relieve the chronic itching. I don't have the chronic itching, peeling, cracked skin...Thanks to Dr. Scholls Foot File. I have also sent one to my daughter for her athlete's feet and chronic itching. I will always purchase Dr. Scholls foot file or the Rasp to care for my feet and my family's foot care. (1 of 1 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful? Comments about Dr. Scholl's Pedicure Essentials, Exfoliating Stone File, 1 ea: I never write reviews but I love this product so much I had to share--I have very dry, cracked heels and this is the only thing I have found to be effective. I've been able to use it wet with no problems. If you have normal heels this may be too rough for you but if you have problems keeping your feet looking and feeling soft, I highly recommend this product!
