I got turned on to this many years ago by an elderly client who used one every night before bed! I often woke with congestion due to dust, pollen, who knows, and once I get snuffly can get sinus-related toothaches and smoldering sinus infections pretty easily.

One Dristan doesn't over-dry my nose or throat, controls the congestion, stops toothache and headache promptly, and has a side benefit - very gently lets me fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly for 6-7 hrs w/o any noticeable hangover (and no constipating effect). Since I started using one tab before bedtime whenever I have the house open at night a few years ago, I have not had one sinus infection (knock on wood!) -- and I used to have 2-3 a year.

I've tried benedryl, etc, but that's like getting knocked out with a hammer and put in a dehydrator. Plus, any benedryl-containing products are bad for older adults, and I'm creeping up on that title -- it affects neurotransmitters involved in memory functioning and lingers in the system longer. Dristan is effective for me at a low dose, without those problems.

When I get a real cold, or when I've been working in a very dusty/dandery situation and messed up my sinuses badly, 2 tabs taken a couple times a day controls it adequately w/out excessive drying or rebound congestion, but it does make me want a nap.

I love this product! Only problem is it is not easy to find.. thank you drugstore.com for carrying it.
The one thing I do not like is the packaging. It is very hard to get into. I have to use a scissors to open each and every pill.

I could not find this over the counter medication in a local store and had to order on line. This has been around a long time and is hard to find because of gov. regs.

I take dristan when I sick over 10 years. it's good for runny nose and allergy. sometimes my nose feel very cold inside, so painful. I think allergy n once I took dristan, it's gone. feel much better.

The only thing that works for me for that nagging cough in late fall/early winter.

Can no longer find it at local drug stores.

For me, doesn't work well for general allergy symptoms like earache. I use antihistamine for those.

For me, only ok for general cold symptoms.

I have allergies, and I am not supposed to take Nsaids due to stomach problems. Dristan takes care my sinus headaches and causes no stomach discomfort.
