We've bought the original Avantis for years, now, and when we saw that they were on clearance at a local retailer, we began to get worried. Normal condoms weren't an option due to latex hypersensitivity. We tried the Lifestyles Skyns first, but hadn't used them, yet. We saw the Avanti Bares available here before it even made the Durex website, and we ordered the 24 ct. on a leap of faith. When we'd gotten around to trying the Lifestyles, we were very pleased. Once those were gone, we gave the new Avanti Bares a shot, and haven't looked back since. We love these.
It sounds like media hoopla to say that "it feels like there's nothing there," but it's TRUE. The feel of the polyisoprene is superior to the older polyurethane material. I had no idea that the old Avantis were so thick until we tested the new ones. My only gripe is that the ring is a little snug at the base, but then again- after years of using the previous generation of Avantis, my complaint about those were that they were a little loose-fitting and that if you weren't at 100%, it might slip off and end up inside her. That's not the kind of excitement we were looking for in the bedroom.
You get used to paying for quality and an alternative to latex over time. The lower cost is definitely welcome. Probably could've bought stock in Durex, by now. We'll definitely be buying the newer Avanti Bare brand again!

My boyfriend loves these! He thinks they are the best condoms out their/closest to the real thing.
However, I am allergic to latex...& these condoms are not made for people who are very allergic to latex. It even states on the box (in fine print) "Dermatological testing shows that Durex® Avanti Bare condoms have minimal potential for induced delayed hypersensitivity (also called 'Type IV allergy' and 'allergic contact dermatitis'). Some people who are sensitive to natural rubber latex may also have a sensitivity to these condoms". I didn't notice because it says all over the front box "Suitable for latex-sensitive users"..but for me, these weren't good enough...I lost some sensation, would brake out in hives after awhile...& every time we would use them after a prolonged period, I would get yeast infections (which can happen if you are sensitive to latex by irritating) .
Prior from using these, we used Trojan Supra Lubricated Premium Condoms, MicroSheer Polyurethane, Ultra-Thin for years...No problem...We'll be switching back...
These are great! I'm highly allergic to latex, and these are NOT latex. It's a synthetic version. I love them! Lubricated just enough, comfortable feel. Strong.
I have sensitive skin (redhead) and hated latex. Would always give me rashes and pretty much limited my sex life. These are a really great alternative I wished they came out with a decade ago. I've had no problems with these and have been using them for awhile. I've only had one break ever, (many less than latex condoms) and they are safe with many more kinds of lubricants than latex only. They feel better and less "rubbery". They are probably comparable to the older female condoms, but much much thinner so you don't lose sensation. I use them primary with silicone Gun Oil lubricant, and won't be switching any time soon. Only downside is the higher price (about 50 cents each), but I've gotten some great specials on here when they run them (50% off) and I've noticed that the local [@] has these and the other Skyn brand for slightly cheaper than this website. Worth checking out!
I dont know what these people are talking about they are not thin feeling at all. If your looking for thin then this isnt the right condom. if your looking for strength and latex free and reducing sensation they might be the right ones. I am not impressed but they make plenty of other kinds.
It costs a little more than the other types of condoms, but after trying out different types/brands, this is the one I ended up defaulting to. It definitely almost feels like you don't have one on!
we're not allergic to latex, but these got good reviews, and had a promotional price. not impressed, they aren't thin at all, very thick actually. it's very obvious that it's there. won't buy these again.
I have a latex allergy, and these did not cause irritation at all. I also can't feel the condom during intercourse, like I can with other condoms that are thicker in feel. My husband does not like condoms, as they decrease sensitivity for him, and I had hoped that these would be better than others we've tried. Unfortunately, he still experienced a decrease in sensitivity, but they did the job.
