This brush can be excellent (especially for the price) if you get a good one, but there are a lot of "duds" out there. The one I ordered looks uneven - one side of the bristles is more tapered than the other side. I recently looked at these in a store, and out of the 10 or so that were on the shelf, at least half were unevenly shaped and had long stray hairs sticking out.

Assuming you get a good one, they are quite soft and pick up shadow pretty well. I actually prefer the professional line of eye brushes (with the white handles) from e.l.f. over the studio eye line (all black). To me, the bristles in the professional eye line are softer and pick up and deposit product better despite their lower cost. However, the studio line is more consistent- all the ones I saw on the shelf were perfectly shaped.

Overall, I'd recommend this brush as long as you get a good one. I do wish e.l.f. would step up their quality control on the professional line of brushes. I also highly recommend the professional blending eye brush (also assuming you get a good one) - it works beautifully to blend shadow.

I use this to apply TATTOO eye shadow - wonderful for making the shadow thicker, thinner and to apply on exactly the area you want.

This was my second one...because I loved the first. It sheds so badly, though, that it is pretty much unusable.

I recently bought a number of eyeshadow brushes to replenish my collection. I'm not an eyeshadow fanatic, but have recently been looking for product to help refresh my look. I have to admit that I like the "real techniques" brushes (which I got on amazon) better ... and of course, they were a bit more expensive. For the price, however, this is a decent brush. For my taste, I found that the better brushes held on to more eye shadow, and thus allowed you to apply eye shadow more darkly ... but if you want just a light brush of color, these are fine. There was no bad smell, no breaking or shedding, quality was just fine.

I think this is a pretty decent brush. It packs on product well and doesn't shed. However, after cleaning it, its bristles sort of changed and it had an odd odor to it. Still, it works pretty well.

For the price of this brush I will not complain. Just know that when you first receive this brush you should wash it. There will most likely be a number of hairs that shed when doing so. I have not had an opportunity to use the brush yet, but I'm sure it will work fine. I'm just hoping that the brush is done shedding from the thorough wash I gave it. The brush is pretty, like a pearl white color. If it doesn't shed when using to apply my makeup I will most likely buy more of these brushes.
