I will NEVER EVER use E.P.T. again! I have been trying to conceive for four years now and have tried the E.P.T. brand on three separate occasions (three tests per box with three cycles so 9 tests) and got false positives on all of them! I did not get an evap line. They showed up within 30 seconds and were obviously blue clear "perfect" lines. Blue dye tests, especially E.P.T., need to be reworked so there is no "bleed" from the control line to cause a false positive. Every month that I had a positive on E.P.T. was ended in heartbreak when I would discover the tests were all wrong and I was not in fact pregnant.

Don't waste your money on these so called error proof tests. Buy a pink dye test.

Blaming an ultra sensitive test for picking up on a pregnancy that proved to not be viable after only a few days is not fair. If the directions were followed, the reagent reacted to what it detected; you were pregnant if only for enough days for the requisite amount of hCG to be present in your urine. Subsequent tests will be negative after that level drops. "False positives" are usually the catching of a very brief pregnancy IF the directions are followed precisely. These tests deliver on the promise to detect pregnancy very, very early - when it is most likely for something to go wrong.

These companies are giving us what we're asking for: very sensitive early detection tests. But, this is a good example of why it's best to be careful what you wish for. Knowing THAT early isn't always best. Ignorance, for a couple more weeks, anyway, can certainly be bliss.

These work just fine if used as directed.

First of all while the reference line is really dark and strong, the horizontal line is light, and I also got a vertical line yesterday. Both were very hard and faint to read. I have three very strong negatives from three different brands since then. I'll update the review if it's really a positive but the quality of the reading for the price is ridiculous.

I bought this test when I was a week late. It gave me a big fat negative!!! I went on with my life, and I took meds,had caffine,ect.(nothing bad or anything but I like being super, careful when I am pregnant; I am reluctant to even take a tylenol )but I never started. Finally, I bought an Answer HPT and got a positive reading (100%). I would Never recommmend this test!!

We took a digital test that read pregnant and then took this test a few days later to be sure. The results were fast but the diagonal line in the plus sign was very faint and had I not really looked for it I would have thought I wasn't pregnant.

I took this test the day after my missed period, and it showed a very very light positive. I had to purchase another test, which was Clear Blue (digital) and it gave me a clear (pregnant) that same day. This product is ok. It did detect that I was pregnant, but it was a little confusing since the positive sign barely showed. I do not however recommend First Response, since it clearly showed negative--even on the first day of my missed period.

Considering I still have not had one good experience with this test, I gave it a 3. We've been trying to have a baby for over a year, and I have gotten two false readings with this test.
The first one was entirely my fault. I read the result after 10 minutes, and saw a very dark positive. With other tests the evaporation line is obviously an evaporation line, but this one was DARK. I tested with a different brand the next day and got a negative, then started my period that day. I was very upset and emotional. Now I was suspecting that I might be pregnant, so again, thinking it can't fail me twice, I took this brand. This time I got a light positive immediately. Got so excited, felt so happy, and then used a digital test and got a "not pregnant" reading. I think the digital tests are more reliable, and now I'm just very angry and don't plan on ever using this test again! Getting my hopes up only to be crushed is too much, especially when it comes to trying to have a baby.

I bought a double pack of the EPT tests and I took the first one and it was negative, 2 days later took the second one, negative. It had a bonus 3rd test in there, so I took it a day later it was negative too. I went back to check it later and it was positive. I told my husband and we laughed, we cried and started preparing ourselves for baby #3. The next day I took another just to make sure, and it was negative. I then got my period the following morning. The false positive was what is called an Evaporation Line. They show up after the recommended reading time. So in all reality this test was accurate, being that I got 3 negatives and not knowing about the Evaporation line possibility. Just remember that it IS POSSBLE to get a FALSE POSITIVE!

I was a little neurotic and bought five different brands of tests. e.p.t. supposedly had the least sensitivity of all of the other brands. The e.p.t. actually showed the quickest and most clear results. I highly recommend.
